Can't load rythme data CTK 7000/7200 on brand new SD card

Recommended Posts

Having trouble loading new rhythm data for my 7200 downloaded from the Casio site and copied with a PC under the map MUSICDAT without new directories under this map.

But if I put the SD card in to the Casio 7200 it says that there is no data to be loaded.

Because of that error I can not load new styles in to my Casio keyboard.

Reading the manual and formatted the SD card in full with standard settings but still nothing seems to work.

It's a brand new SD card of 8 GB of space.

Strange thing is that I can rename or delete copied style files on the SD card.

They are compatible with the 7000 and 7200 keyboard series.

The only thing I can do is to copie the style via the datamanager for this board...

The manual does not say anything about what FAT system(16 or 32.) is beeing supported with the Casio boards...

Those someone know the answer to my problem???

Best Regards,

Ramon, "Hoe gaat het?"

Did you download the Data Manager? if you did, open it, check rhythms and drag the downloaded ones from your PC to the left part of the data manger (minimize both windows). I found that the easiest way to download to the data manger. Once downloaded, connect via USB to keyboard and move each file to the right.

Veel geluk!

Thnx Geria,

Met mij gaat het prima hoor :)

Ok well gonna try to connect the keyboard with the PC and installing the data manager for the CTK 7200 but I was really hoping that I could copy files directly to the map MUSICDAT without use of de manager...the WK 3300 did it also without the manager so that's I was puzzeled.

Thanks for the tip and letting know if it worked now.

try saving a rytham from the wk directly onto the card in the wk card slot, ( just make a small change to it )  If that saves to the card then see if it is visible in the display if you try to re load it.

If you can see this data then you are making some mistake with data manager maybe?

Start by checking that the keyboard IS NOT in CARD mode.  CARD mode is for playing MIDI files directly from the SD Card.  You can not load or save files while the keyboard is in CARD mode.  If the third line down in the display reads [[CARD]], the keyboard is in CARD mode.  Press the CARD button to take it out of CARD mode.

Next, press the USER RHYTHMS button to tell the keyboard you want to load or save rhythm files.  If you do not do this, the keyboard will be looking on the SD Card for TONE files, and if it does not see any, you get the NO FILES message.

Now, PRESS AND HOLD the FUNCTION button as you momentarily press the LOAD/SAVE (CARD) button.  This should bring you to the LOAD menu for rhythm files.  If you want to SAVE a file to the SD Card, use the up/down arrow buttons to toggle between the LOAD and SAVE functions.  Use the DATA WHEEL to select the file to load.  Press ENTER and then YES to confirm the LOAD.

In the second step above, if you want to load or save TONE files, press the USER TONES button, or if you want to load or save SONG SEQUENCER files, press the SONG SEQUENCER button.  This step is necessary to tell the keyboard what type of files you want to load or save.

Good luck !

Ted

Thanks Ted,

This is really a strange way of loading things but your correct when checking the manual again but it's written by someone who has not an organized mind because it flies from back to forward in the pages and it's very confusing sometimes...

writing your instructions right away in my Casio handy guide so that I don't have to grabb the manual al the time :)

  • 1 year later...

The SD Card MUST be between 2 Gb and 32 Gb storage capacity.  Cards outside this range will not be recognized.

To store audio (WAV) files, the SD Card MUST be formatted IN THE KEYBOARD.  This creates the MUSICDAT folder for storage of non-audio (non-wav) files, as well as a special hidden "partition" for the storage of audio (wav) files.  This hidden "partition" is not a standard "folder" or "directory".  It can only be created and managed by the Casio keyboard's operating system.  Neither Windows, nor MAC/OS can create or manage it.

WAV files MUST be the standard Windows 44.1 KHz / 16 bit format, and must be converted to the Casio proprietary audio format with the Data Manager 6.1 software.

The Data Manager 6.1 software MUST be used to transfer the converted audio file to the hidden partition on the SD Card, with the SD Card IN THE COMPUTER'S SD CARD READER SLOT.  The transfer CAN NOT be made from the computer to the SD Card with the SD Card in the keyboard's SD Card slot, as the keyboard's USB connection can only transfer MIDI data, NOT audio data.  Once the converted audio file is loaded onto the SD Card, the SD Card can be moved from the computer to the keyboard, and the audio file played back on the keyboard.  See Page E-121 of the manual for audio file playback by the keyboard.
