BillyMac
I downloaded the IDES4 package for my WK-3800 and it installed fine. I then changed the Directory in the File/Preference tab to point to a different file location which didn't start with the default folder ( ProgramData ). When I next executed MDMS, I got a message "Can't create data folder" and it pointed to the folder/file I had just edited and saved in the File/Preference tab. I couldn't get back into the app to fix my bad edit. So I uninstalled and reinstalled the IDES4 package. Still got the same error message pointing to the same bad folder/file. I uninstalled IDES4 again and also checked for any other possible files which might contain my bad edit. It was a pretty easy search since it's a new laptop and I had only loaded a few other files. Same result: same error message pointing to my original bad edit. The bad folder/file obviously still exists somewhere on my laptop, but I can't find it. Any ideas? Thanks for the help. - T -
Billy You may be running into a Windows "permissions" problem. Try running IDES-4 as an administrator. If that doesn't work, and you can remember the path and directory you entered in the "Preference" field, try creating that path and directory manually with Windows Explorer. Then see if IDES-4 will start. I've had this problem a couple of times, when I have inadvertently deleted the "Preference" path and directory with Explorer, then have to manually recreate it. Good luck !
BillyMac
Ted, you're my hero !! I was already running as an Admin, so I took your advice and created the path and directory listed in the error message. Worked first time - thanks a bunch.
