pax-eterna
Trying to record midi on a daw and the PX sends a controller 88 message with each note played. As this is an undefined CC message (in MIDI spec) what is Casio using it for, and can it be turned off?
Solution Choppin Posted December 12, 2014 Solution Share Posted December 12, 2014 I think the PX is using this for Hi-Res velocity

pax-eterna
Yep - that's it. CC 88 is the High Res midi out. Turned it off in the system settings and it stopped tx'g. Just need to create a SS now as a controller out template

They chose it because it was technically unused, but some older instruments used it for something else, causing some issues with those. For instance, my Nord Electro uses that number to change C/V setting. That was really weird to have that jump around when I was using the PX-5S to control it. OTOH, Pianoteq responds to it as hi-res velocity. http://www.midi.org/techspecs/ca31.pdf
