piattica
Hi from Italy I connected an expander to MIDI OUT of PX5S.To increase the available MIDI controllers, I thought to connect a MIDI controller keybord to MIDI IN of PX5S. I would like to play expander either from external MIDI keyboard either from PX5S: basically I would like to have a MIDI MERGE function. Is it possible? How I have to configure PX5S? Merry Christmas and happy 2015.
pianomax
The PX-5s doesn't support the Midi Merge capability in the current firmware version (1.13) so at the moment the only option is to use an external MIDI Merge box.
piattica
Thanks Pianomax.I think it could be a nice improvement for new firmware
elecmuse3
With only two MIDI jacks, would you want to switch the output and merge the two physical jacks at the cost of not having a MIDI jack output at all? Since there's a usb MIDI option, this could work for some folks.
Choppin
"...the two physical jacks..." I don't believe the midi merge unavailable option being talked about here is about combining the physical jacks, but rather having a menu assignment where you can have Keyboard play + the data coming into MIDI IN passed to the MIDI out. Currently you can have one or the other, but not both going to the same jack. For the OP, if you have a box (Something like the MIDI Solutions Merger) that can accept 2 MIDI inputs and then merge the data to one output to the expander (a sound module?) then you should be able to achieve your goal. piattica
Thanks ChoppinI solved connecting by MIDI the PX5S to a PCR800 controller that has merge function --------- --------- ---------- | px5s |---->| PCR800 |---->| expander | --------- --------- ---------- It is a pity that PX5S do not have a internal merge of MIDI. elecmuse3
Oops. That's what I meant, plus what I added in the green font. a menu assignment where you can have [the notes the] Keyboard play [+ the data from knobs & sliders] + the data coming into MIDI IN passed to the MIDI out.
