JiminOhio
I am looking to purchase either a CTK7000 or CTK7200. In looking through the literature and reviews I can find online, I am having trouble figuring out what the functional differences are between the two. I've picked up that apparently the 7200 is the successor to the 7000 but what does it do better than the 7000. Is the 7200 worth the additional $50 bucks (US) it appears to be priced at over the 7000? Thanks for comments and opinions.
- T -
Jim The major differences between the CTK-7000/WK-7500 and the CTK-7200/WK-7600 are that the Draw-bar sliders are now 8-step devices for finer control, as opposed to the old 3-step coarse controls, and EQ has been added to the Mixer section. IMO - these improvements are well worth the extra $50 bucks for the newer models.
JiminOhio
Ted,Thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately, the missus didn't like the idea of a set up/ tear down operating station in the computer room. She held out for a full sized piano with a "furniture look" (that means built in keyboard cover and matching flip top bench) which could go into our living and dining area. We'd been debating this for a week and I thought I had reached a reasonable compromise but it did not pass muster. Thus I just ordered a PX-780 complete bundle with the bench etc. I think I lose the drawbars and mixer in the deal but keep the sequencer although I think it is not as straightforward as in the arranger keyboards. Still thanks again.
- T -
No problem, Jim. I am sure you will enjoy the 780, and if you get something that your wife will also enjoy, so much the better. If she is not into computers, a workstation in the computer room probably just seems like an extension of the computer instead of a musical instrument to her. Best of luck with it !
