How to Record multiple tracks on Different Channels (1-16)

Hey Everyone,

I've recently purchased a G1 with very limited knowledge of the product. I was wondering how to record a track let's say on channel one then record something different on channel 2 and keep doing that. Every time I switch the channel when I enter the mixer button, my recording switches onto the next channel. Channels 8-16 seems to be a default drum tracks / bass for the step sequencing. Not sure how to utilize channels 2-7 when the song is looping. Please explain like I'm 5 as this is my first synth I'm using.

Thanks,

Hello and you welcome:

I don't understand your question. Can you explain more, please? Thank you. ;)

Have patience with the XW-G1. It's a very complex groove synthesizer because it has many options.

Do you mean sample looper? Record in the channel is not possible. Each channel (1-16) can be assigned sounds (tones). You have to use the multi-functionkey of the Performance mode and assign the recorded sound (User Wave) to each key.

Use the XW-G1 data editor. The data editor greatly facilitates the use of the XW-G1 and helps to understand the functioning of the XW.

Hello Sadcowsgomoo,

You can use the phrase recorder to record your 1-4 channel. You can overdub and built layers like a guitar looper and even record real-time tweaking automations.

Unfortunately only one phrase at a time can be played by default  ,but you can override the limitation by assigning pre-recorded phrases with the "Multi-function Keys". You can set 2 extra phrases.

There you can assign the phrases to playback channels 5/6 or channel 1. (I don't understand either ,why casio did not allowed to select the other parts (2,3,4)).

And don't forget the looper ;)

Sounds like you're looking for a traditional multitrack sequencer. The XWs don't have one. There is a 9 track step sequencer (8-16) and track 16 can have chords.

As mentioned, you can use the phrase recorder to add polyphonic sounds from channels 1-7 but they aren't multitracked (or rather, you can't edit them as you would a multitrack recording).
