Hello

First,I tried to udpate my P1 but I had some problem and I had to bring my keyborad to casio. They repair it,and I got it back. But I'm afraid to use PC software on it.What's happen if my PC break during I use it on P1.Do I have to send it to casio again ?What it will happen ?

If I use the PC, when I want to turn off the P1,do I start to swith off the keyboard first, or the software ,or the computer ?

I'd like really to turn on my PC on it, does any see my problems ?

Now 'im version 1.11,all is working well but with the PC,I don't know....I have windows 8

Thanks for answering.

I was one of the first here to post about the firmware upgrade causing the XW to stop working if done incorrectly. I have had no difficulty using the XW with the computer connected for any other purpose other than the firmware upgrade. I have used the Casio data manager many times and have played my computer .mid midi files through it by connecting with the usb or midi cables and there has never been a problem. I've also transferred soundfiles into the XW from our upload section using data manager and everything has worked with no problems.

Updating the firmware is an entirely different function that has no relationship to uploading or downloading sounds or using the data editor for its many functions. Firmware directly rewrites the code for the entire XW operating system. The other computer uses designed into the data manager or any drivers you install to your computer to connect it to the XW do not do that. So I would encourage you that this is the only real flaw in the XW, that updating the firmware is very touchy and it is the only procedure I've found that completely disables the XW, and again only if something interrupts the firmware transfer. Casio also restored mine and I have used it no problems for many months now. Hope this helps! :-)

I am not speaking officially for Casio, I'm only another musician, but as far as my XW,  I have never had any other computer related connection or function cause any damage needing Casio repair. There is always a possibility that the computer in the XW could be temporarily scrambled, but a factory reset that you can do as described in the manual is designed to fix that. I have never needed to do even that though.
