So is everyone as excited about the XW-PD1 as I am?

Like it Casio has not updated the sites yet with the specifications but they sure put a beauty to demo it :)

I have to nag about one thing already it could do without a speaker as headphones and external speakers

have became common with create sound out of them.

Oh and try to find this one :\

I dunno if it's so much musicianship as it is button pushing and programming.

I love gear as much as the next guy but I don't really think this is real competition for something like the Korg Electribe EMX2.

All things being equal I think I'd rather spend a few more bux and get the Korg...

I will reserve judgement however until I've seen the Casio interfacing with other MIDI gear though.

Gary ;)

I have created a new Facebook Group to cover the entire XW Series. This new group will be more focused on EDM, DJing, sampling, and rhythm creation.  The group will support the following Casio XW instruments / accessories:

XW-P1 Performance Synthesizer
XW-G1 Groove Synthesizer
XW-J1 DJ / VJ Controller
XW-H1 Headphones
XW-H2 Headphones
XW-H3:Headphones
XW-DJ1 DJ Controller
XW-PD1 Groove Center

https://www.facebook.com/groups/Casio.XW.Series

The original XW-P1 and XW-G1 Group will stay as-is, mainly focused on using the XW Synths and sound design.

Hi

It looks very good .Does any knows the price in euro and when it will be in store ?

I talk about PD1 :D

Hi JMA. I only have information about Casio USA. You will want to check with your local Casio distributor in France and see what their plans are for the Casio XW-PD1 Groove Center: http://www.casio-europe.com/fr/emi/distributors/

(Find the city closest to yours from the drop-down list).

Wow - Awesome video. Love the head-to-head laser fight at the end. I see it is unlisted on the Casio site.. How did you find it?

Mike has been giving us some awesome tidbits of info in the Facebook Group.  He was wowed.  That says a lot.  It seems the PD1's midi controller abilities are "staggering".  Some incredible things are possible from the features we are finding out about.  Excitement city!!   :D   Can't wait for the full story at NAMM next week.  Seems like another game changer is coming from Casio.

There's so much to like about the PD1. I think it is worth it JUST for the effects and step sequencer.. the sampling and synth stuff to me will be icing on the cake. Already organizing my sample packs.

Just a quick update: I noticed the XW-DJ1 and XW-PD1 are pretty much the same design, so I was pretty sure the iPhone clip that comes with the DJ1 would work with the PD1.   I asked Mike in the XW Group and he confirmed that, yes the clip would work with the PD1 BUT it DOES NOT COME WITH. They are, however, thinking about making it an accessory.

Would be very handy to have - I can see using the step sequencer to trigger iPhone synths or using the effects bank to mash up some iTunes tracks.

Ok.  So I did some digging.  The DJ1 has a special mini DIN "iOS" jack designed specifically for connection to iOS devices using the included cable.  No need for the Apple Camera Kit.   The PD1 does not have this ability.  The mini DIN "iOS" jack from the DJ1 is replaced with a MIC input on the PD1.   We will need the Apple Camera Kit for the PD1.

Good job digging that info up, Brad! Of course, a CCK is ONLY needed for connecting to an iThingy, not to a PC or MAC. And remember kids, don't go cheap and buy a knock-off CCK - they tend not to work with MIDI!!! Suck it up and spend the $30 to get a Genuine Apple CCK.

I think it will be a blast hooking the PD1 up to an iPad. I have a bunch of synth apps  I use with the  step sequencer, my drum machine apps are going to get fried and chopped in the effects section... I also have a cool arpeggiator app that sends MIDI so,  I  am excited to see if I can run that into the synth part of the PD1.

What I really like about gear like this is you can use it on its own or use it to enhance your other equipment. Everyone gets to have fun!!! LOLOLOLOLOL
