PX350 thumb drive usage

I was having trouble recording midi to my computer sequencer-was getting midi echo and failure to record until I remembered an important point. The thumb drive must removed when exchanging data with a computer through the usb port which is documented in the manual. I have posted elsewhere this is also true when using the din midi ports.

The confusing part is that I was able to play a midi file without disconnecting the drive but not record. And there is a contradiction in the manual on page 55 which describes accessing data internal to the px with a computer or the thumb drive which sounds like you can do both-access px internal memory and the thumb drive while the computer is connected to the px. The contents of the thumb drive are not visible like this. So, point is, thumb drive must be disconnected in order to use the px as a controller as far as i can tell.
