Connecting Px-5s and a Nord Electro 3

Recommended Posts

I need help with a Midi issue. I would like to play the keys of my Casio and trigger sounds that are on my Nord. I feel I've taken all the right steps but I'm still not hearing any sound when playing the keys of the Px-5s. I've posted on the Nord site but I haven't solved the problem. I'm thinking it is a setting in the Casio that is preventing this from happening.

These are the setting that I'm using

I have a midi cable "in" with the Nord, that connects into the Casio midi "out".
I have both keyboards set to channel 1 and the Casio set to Local off.
The Casio is set as "Slave". Hight Res "On". Device Id=1, Basic channel 1.

I have done a 7. CC send and a 9. Dump All, on the Nord.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help. I have turned off the hi res and set it back to master, but still no sound is being produced.

For audio outputs, I am using cables for right and left channel outputs from both the Nord and the Casio that run into my mixer. The keyboards work when I'm not hooking them up midi. There is sound from the Nord. I am listening through headphones.

I have tried all combinations with hooking up the Midi cable. Each end of the Midi cable has an orange plug and a grey one. That may be orange = + and grey + = -.

Thanks you for your help!  It's working now. I didn't have the Midi out set to key. The orange end of the cable is used for the Nord "in" and Casio "out". I'm not sure if that matters. I do need to learn more about Midi, read up on it more.
