powertrader
I have been working on a performance with multi-key and a loop sample. The machine has locked up several times and the only way to unlock is to unplug and plug it back in. What would be causing this? Thanks for any help. Display Name
Does it only do it with that sample?
Gnomo Alegre
The massive use of options may be the cause. Your XW-G1 processes much information at once. The synthesizers are computers with keyboard. How about the quality of the samples?
powertrader
It probably is working too hard. I have a loop, a short sample converted from a wav playing on a multi-key setting. I have two tones created from wav samples and a brass tone set in the zones.
Gnomo Alegre
B.P.M.? Thank you.
powertrader
B.P.M.? Thank you. The performance does not use step sequencer and has no drum track. I have Zones 1,2 set up with a user wav tone created from a wav sample of a vocal part of a song The other two zones are set up with brass overlays. Multi-function key is enabled and has one key set to play a phrase. Lastly, I have a loop assigned. Doesn't seem like too much going on. I bought this xw-g1 used on ebay late last year and am impressed with its functionality. Hoping there is nothing happening within the computer to cause issues. I have been playing along with the song with my iphone connected to the g1 through the audio in and using headphones. Thank you both for help on this. PowerTrader It's a strange situation ... only happens in this performance?
powertrader
Yes, strange huh? The two vocal tones created from wavs are converted in data editor and converted in stereo. Maybe that is what is causing it? It seems to happen when I am playing the voice tones on keys while playing the brass part.
Gnomo Alegre
The synthesizer has to work harder if the files are "big". And the synthesizer works best if the files are "light". You convert stereo to mono tones.
XW-Addict
I agree with David there are indeed performance limit this happens ifyou switch between several performance chains or use DSP and Controlfrom step sequence as well a solo synth using dsp etc Slows the XW a little. With samples the higher the fidelity , stereo , mono and use of sample banks can also reach a performance limit. Its a bit of figuring out a balance to use samples , Sseq , solo synth ,and a performance together to get the maximum performance.Simple is the best for every module meaning Sseq , solo synth ,samples or performance. I usually focus on the main sound used the most and add the other as addition. What to much I leave out and tweak as much on the main sound to get the best, performance out of my patches.
powertrader
I get it. Will check DSP, I may have too much on. Also, I will try out bringing the samples down to mono and tweak with the external sound as opposed to having the synth create the chorus and stereo. A true newbie to synth programming here. Thanks for all your help guys! PowerTrader
