Need a designated Driver!

Recommended Posts

DO NOT use that driver or any other!

The CTK-2080 is class compliant.  Windows will automatically install the driver when you connect the CTK ot the computer.

All Casio keyboards have been class compliant for a good number of years now.  This is why you didn't find a driver on the official Casio site.  The drivers that are there are for older models.

I deleted posts that contained some very ill-advised actions. For future reference:

- DO NOT use drivers obtained from a third-party site. ONLY use drivers obtained from the manufacturer's website.
- DO NOT use drivers that are not designed for your SPECIFIC MODEL.
- DO NOT use drivers when your keyboard is class compliant

Doing any of the above can cause harm to your system.

First, Thank You all for your input.

Don't worry, I did not install.

It appeared to be a "DriverDoc" Installation program.

Deceitful, but not that clever.

I did, however, attempt to simply attach the device with no signature driver installed.

Still, within the two editing programs I have (Acid and Reason), the keyboard does not appear within the device list.

Not even as a "Generic Device".

I have tried, both, Local On & Off.

When I have a moment, I'll continue to play around with it and let you guys know.

Wut I Hav:

Casio CTK-2080

Windows 8.1 (64)

Acid 7 & Reason 5

Anyone with a similar configuration is more than welcome to tell me what I've overlooked.  ;)

Thanks again.

Did Windows notify you of "installing driver software" when you first plugged it in?  You may want to go to device manager and see if Casio USB-Midi is in the game controllers.  I suspect it won't.  You should then try to "scan for hardware changes". If that doesn't work, maybe you're cable is bad. Try another computer and or cable.

Got it! I feel stupid.

I must have had the USB plugged in my

Audio Non-Universal Spectrometer;)

Actually, I simply had the settings wrong in both editors.

Windows accepts the input (as first stated by BradMZ) but there was no "pop-up" confirming it.

I guess I assumed nothing happened.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
