twinma
Hello I have a Casio CDP 130 Digital Piano and my daughters use it to practice their worship music for church and they need more sounds on it. They need string instrument sounds so that they can practice some of the songs. I think that you can hook up a USB cable to the Digital Piano and then hook it up to your laptop but I am unsure of the software that you need or even if it is possible to do. Also is there a way to hook it up to a cheaper model Casio electronic keyboard to use the sounds off of that? Thanks
Mike Martin
The USB connection on the CDP-130 can only connect to a "Host" device like a computer or a tablet like an iPad (iPad would also require "Camera Connection Kit"), it can not connect to another keyboard. There are many software based instruments for computers and the iPad. String libraries for a computer range from Free to thousands of dollars. Example of a free one:http://www.simonlarkin.net/releases.html Most software instruments have to run within a host application. Something likehttp://www.reaper.fm/or http://www.presonus.com/products/studio-one/download Good luck
Null
It's also possible to connect the CDP to another keyboard or a hardware MIDI Rack Module directly using a Kenton USB MIDI Host Routing Box. http://www.kentonuk.com/products/items/utilities/usb-host.shtml Or you could simply use your laptop to connect up to as many keyboards as your OS allows, and install MIDI routing software to act as a hardware MIDI router to allow you to select and/or layer any other keyboard or module's sounds while using the CDP as a MIDI controller. The right combination of MIDI and USB MIDI devices can be spectacularly versatile and configurable if you know what you are doing.
