Joe Muscara
Well, it wasn't really mine... In college, my roommate and a guy upstairs used to get together and play guitar. The guy upstairs had a small Casio that he let me play. It was probably 40-something keys, and they were mini-keys. This would have been around 86, 87, or 88. I know that's not a lot to go on, but I'm wondering if anyone might know what models it could have been. I'm hoping that if I see the right one, I'll recognize it. I would like to know what "my" first Casio was! Thanks!
Brad Saucier
A good start is google image search of Casio MT series keyboards. Casio made a boatload of models at the time. It might be hard to narrow it down, even with pictures. https://www.google.com/search?espv=2&biw=1366&bih=705&tbm=isch&sa=1&btnG=Search&q=casio+mt-
Joe Muscara
Thanks. It might have been the MT-520, but I'm not sure. I wish that site had dates of production. The original owner didn't know what it was and I guess he no longer has it by his response. If he did have it, I'd offer to buy it! I'll send him the link to he can let me know if any of them might be it.
rsaintjohn
The MT-520 came out in 1987. If you're pretty sure the keyboard had those drumpads, you're in luck; there were only a few with pads like that, and they were all in the market around the same time ('87-'88):MT-220 - 4 squarish drumpadsMT-500 - 4 hexagonal drumpadsMT-520 - 8 hexagonal drumpadsMT-640 - 6 hexagonal drumpads, and bigSK-8 - small, 4 squarish drumpads, sampler Do just a search on those, and you should be able to nail down the exact one. Joe Muscara
I sent the link to the original owner on FB. At first he thought it was the MT-28 because it was black with the blue line across it. But, I didn't remember it having that RAM cartridge slot. To which he replied, "Hmm. I guess I'm wrong. I can't see it well enough on the phone and after a while they all look the same."
PSS-270
Hmmm, seems like you can check it out here, I suspect.https://generror.wordpress.com/2010/07/08/history-of-casio-keyboards-2/
Null
This was my first Casio back around 1985. Also mini keys. I never bought the optional barcode scanner that allowed you to load songs from data sheets into the internal sequencer. I paid about $300 for it USED back in 1985. I believe it sold for $500 NEW back then! Gary
Null
BTW Joe. Best way to find your first Casio is with a Google image search. That's how I found my MT-70 a couple of years ago. Back then I couldn't remember the model number either. https://www.google.ca/search?q=casio+keyboard&num=100&newwindow=1&safe=off&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAWoVChMI0KTl7422xwIV0H6SCh37ygo9&biw=1113&bih=508 Gary
