Irwin
Greetings,I am thinking of purchasing the CTK 7200 and cannot get a clear answer about ability of device to record an initial vocal track via mic input over instrumental composition; followed by a second track overdubbed for harmony. I would be very appreciative for any information about this. I have gotten a wide range of answers from sales people. Thanks,Irwin
- T -
Irwin The Audio Recorder in the CTK/WK-7XXX Workstations is a single stereo track single pass "erase as it records" process directly to the SD Card. Its is not a multi-track recorder and does not overdub. Any attempt to overdub a previously recorded track will result in erasure of the previously recorded data.
Irwin
Many thanks for your prompt and definitive reply!I must say that I was amazed at the range of responses from salespeople and even Casio reps. I don't suppose that there are any keyboards that have the capacity I was looking for. If you have any thoughts on that, would appreciate hearing. - T -
Irwin I do not know of any Arranger Workstations anywhere near the price range of the CTK/WK-7XXX units that include the audio recording capabilities that you are looking for. Roland offered the Juno-Gi, which included a professional grade 8-track audio recorder, but it was a pure synth, not an arranger (no accompaniment rhythms) and sold for $1000-$1200 USD. They have apparently carried some of that capability over to their latest FA-06 offering in the same price range. Perhaps you might consider the CTK-7200 along with a standalone digital audio recorder such as the Tascam DP-008EX 8-track unit that Sweetwater Sound sells for $149: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/DP008EX Your other alternative is computer based DAW software. Good luck ! Regards, Ted
Display Name
I will echo Ted. Audio recording on workstation keyboards usually isn't a cheap affair -- very much reserved to more expensive workstations. Getting an external digital multitrack will give you much more control and more options over using an onboard recorder anyway.
