Q re user tones and hex layers...

I have found files with the suffix .ztn which are tone files..if I load these into user tone slots on the PX will the overwriting of said slots affect existing stage settings, or do the stage settings rely on fixed factory data?

 

Does the same apply to Hex tones?

The PX-5S Stage Setting data is all contained in the file package - so you can move tones around and they won't mess with the Stage Settings.  This is why you can share a stage setting without attaching separate tone files. I want to say the only independent file for Stage Settings are phrases or custom arps.

Almost perfect Scott.  The only independant file for a stage setting is a ZPH phrase.  Arpeggio files are also stored as part of a stage setting ZPF.  

 

So...in short....don't worry about tones in user slots messing with stage settings.  Or arpeggio's either.  Stage settings live in their own world with everything they need.  Which is absolutely awesome!

Thanks, so if I want to import tones (ztn) into the PX, and save them over existing USER tone slots, they will have no effect on existing stage settings yes?

 

So ergo the same applies if I import hex file tones to any already used hex tone slot, yes?

Correct.  And the same applies to arpeggio files.  Try it and see.  You won't hurt anything.
