smartin90
Hi everyone, I'm brand new to the website and looking for some assistance. I just purchased my Casio PX150 a couple days ago, and I'm trying to transfer a MIDI file from the keyboard to my Windows 10 laptop. I have a MIDI player on my laptop, but when I try to open the file that I sent to my computer from the keyboard, the MIDI player does not recognize it. I used a USB A to B cable to connect the keyboard to the computer. Is there a different cable I need to use, or some other detail I'm missing? I suspect that the file is somehow not being written as a MIDI file--otherwise the MIDI player should recognize it. Thanks for any help you can give me! Brad Saucier
Welcome to the forums. I am assuming the files came from the RECORDER folder? If so, you are correct. Recorder memory data is written as a .CSR file. Your midi player will need a .MID file. The keyboard cannot convert the files or save them to that format. I do not think this will work, but it's worth a shot. Try changing the file extension from CSR to MID. Right click on the file and rename it using .mid as the extension. If that does not work, you will need to use a program on your computer to record your performance as midi data. This is really the best way if midi sequencing is your goal. If you are simply looking to capture the actual sound from the keyboard, you should connect the 150 headphone out to your computer line/mic in and record the playback as an audio recording. Display Name
Hi Stephanie. Yes try what Brad suggests. If that fails, you can use a DAW like Reaper to record your keyboard play as a MIDI file or audio file if you have an interface. If you need help with setting this up, let us know. musicaddict
Hi Scott, With regards to the issue mentioned by smartin90, the manual suggested for us to change the file extensions but the player can't seem to read the midi file after the changed. Is this a software failure? What would be the easiest way to record midi files from the px160?

Really only one way: USB from the Privia to computer, record MIDI using a DAW.
