Can't record any built-in rhythm patterns to song recorder on Privia 350M

The selection arrow is dark when I choose a built-in rhythm pattern. When the song recorder button is lit or flashing, the arrow is no longer dark. The rhythm pattern does not produce a sound when I start to record. There are no recording problems when I choose a sound from the tone list. The selection arrow always remains dark. I don' t know if I pressed some wrong buttons, but the problem is not corrected even after turning off the power. I am just trying to figure out why the selection arrow for the rhythm choices goes from dark to light when I try to record a pattern. I would greatly appreciate any help.

The PX350 is a little bit tricky to work with when using the song recorderI don't think anything is wrong with it...I have one too and have also done quite a bit of recording using the song recorder functions.

When you want to record a track with a rhythm pattern, you have to select the system track first ("sys" on the LCD screen) while you are in song record mode (red LED flashing). Only the system track will record the rhythm part in real time along with whatever you play with the right-hand section of the keyboard. Now you probably know all that already. And let's not talk about the "metronome"!The tricky part is how to start recording this way, which is different than recording any of the other tracks one tone at a time. And this is where the PX350 is not clear even with the manual.

You start recording an auto-accompaniment rhythm using one of the buttons used to play the rhythm part, but while you are in record mode (light flashing). You can't start recording by simply playing the right hand part if the rhythm part is active. Using any of the auto-accompaniment buttons will start recording the rhythm part, only then can you record the right hand melody or chord parts, plus whatever buttons pushed with the auto-accompaniment section while recording-variation, intro/ending etc. Once that is done, now you can record as many other tracks using 1-16 as you want and the system track will automatically play whatever you recorded there.  Before you record this system track, before you arm record, select auto-accompaniment on and the rhythm part you want.

The workflow with only buttons, many of which serve 2 different functions depending upon what mode you are in, is not real clear unless you are used to these auto-accompaniment keyboards. Even if you are (I am) I found the PX350 song recorder a little confusing. There are no confirmation screens to let you know where you are in the process, unlike most other keyboards with built-in sequencers.

I have many posts here regarding the PX350 which may be helpful to you, regarding midi recording to a computer and the song recorder in particular. Remember that the functions you can access are entirely different in song recorder "play" mode (LED steady on) as in "record" mode (LED flashing). Without the PX350 in front of me, this is what I remember so I may be mistaken in 1-2 points.  I will check later and get back to you. Hope this solves the problem.
