skirocky
Hello - I purchased my Privia PX-150 new about two years ago (Aug 2013). In the past few weeks, it has progressively gone out of tune. This means it is out of tune with itself, i.e., I hear beats when playing chords because the keys are out of tune with each other. The problem gets worse the further you go to the end of the keyboard. The manual seems to offer no help - only advice on tuning frequencies. Called Casio tech support and they were thoroughly unhelpful. Any advice / suggestions?
Solution Brad Saucier Posted November 20, 2015 Solution Share Posted November 20, 2015 Sounds like you need to reset temperament to EQUAL. Look in the manual on pages E-20 through E-23. You will need to use the function keys to change temperament.
Null
First question whenever anyone says their instrument is out of tune. Are the Pitch and Mod Wheels Zeroed?
Brad Saucier
Perhaps, but the PX-150 does not have a pitch or mod wheel.
Null
Nonetheless, does it have tuning +/- buttons? For that matter does it have any built in effects? Always makes sense to cover the basics. Gary
Display Name
No it's not a hard tuning issue. As the OP stated, the piano is not in tune with itself and gets worse as you go up the scale. This is indeed, as Brad suggested, a temperament issue.
skirocky
all - thanks very much!!! re-setting the temperament has indeed fixed the problem
vpd
I am not a piano player. We got this PX-150 for our sons couple years ago. Now, the note that is the same note as the "Reverb" note is out of tune. It is higher than all the notes around it. I tried the suggestions above and it's not helping. I don't know if there's a factory reset. The manual doesn't clearly explain it. I am at a loss. Does anyone know what else I can try. Thank you!!!
