Where is the cut-off located that is assigned to the slider in many stage settings?

Small thing but I've been meaning to ask this for a while:

You know when you have a stage setting where slider 1 is set to cut-off, well where do you find the location to adjust that cut-off without using the slider?

Say for example, I use the slider to adjust the cut-off....well a lot of us know, if you save the stage setting, that adjustment won't save because you made it with a slider and these are considered temporary changes. You must make adjustments in the settings for them to save.

So say, I have cut-off set to 28 by using the slider. It sounds good so I want to go into the settings and manually set that to 28 too. But if I go into tone edit>filter>cut-off which I think is the location of the cut-off, I see it is set to 0. I change that to 28 and the sound is totally different. I notice the scale here is -64 to +64 where as sliders all operate on a 0 to 127 basis....so maybe if I change it to -36.....but still it isn't the same.

If I change the reverb to 56 using a slider and go into stage setting edit>etc...>reverb send, this is set to 56 in the settings so this is why I am confused. I presumably can change that to 55, then back to 56 manually, save the setting and it will save.

I'm thinking maybe there is another location for the cut-off, I haven't noticed and this is what I am changing when using the slider?

There is not another location for cutoff.  When you make an adjustment using the slider you're creating an OFFSET from whatever the programmed value is in the tone itself.   If the Cutoff in the tone is set at a value of 64 then the slider will allow you to increase it +64 or -64.   Other parameters such as Key Velocity and Envelope Depth may also be impacting the sound.

Reverb (chorus & delay)  mix level is the true value and does not work as an offset the way the Cutoff and some other parameters work.

Thanks Mike, so if the cut-off is set to 0 (like in the piano stage settings) in the settings, then is the slider's range will be between 0 and -127?

Would that mean if I had the cut-off set to 0 and the cut-off slider set to 22, then the actual cut-off value is -105?

If that's the case, it it possible to save the stage setting with the cut-off at -105?

Hi dc2k,

If I wanted a specific cutoff saved in a stage setting, I would enter into tone editing filter section and tweak the cutoff value there until it sounds right there.  Exit out and save the stage setting.

Don't worry about the numbers shown by the sliders or try to mirror the slider setting in tone editing.  Trust me.  Life is easier this way.
