JD7 Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 I have a 128gb usb thumb drive that is formatted to fat32. I am trying to get it formatted by the piano but it isn't working. The manual says that when formatting begins the two l/f lamps begin to flash, but in my case they never flash. How do I format the drive by the piano? Quote
Brad Saucier Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 If it's already formatted to FAT32, it's formatted correctly. Also, Casio recommends a certain size drive. Check your manual. Many models indicate 32 gig or less. Quote
Jokeyman123 Posted July 6, 2018 Posted July 6, 2018 I think I see the problem.... https://support.wdc.com/knowledgebase/answer.aspx?ID=1287 FAT 32 (file allocation table) for Windows can only format any kind of drive up to 32GB, regardless of the size of the drive. And if you use any other formatting such as windows NTFS or Apple OS, the drive will not be compatible with the Casio. I have ever used a drive larger than 32GB, so I am guessing since the drive has already been formatted, it does not need to be re-formatted by the Casio. Check with your computer to see how much space the thumb drive is showing-will be designated by letter E, F or G depending on what other drives are in your computer. It should read as if it is only a 32GB drive on your computer, and should work with the Casio for transferring files in and out of it to the computer-although you will wasting that extra 96GB of drive space. If your computer is recognizing all 128GB of its capacity, this means Windows formatted it automatically as an NTFS drive, and therefore the Casio keyboard will not recognize it at all. If this is what is happening, try re-formatting the drive with Windows as a FAT32 drive, and see if that works. Quote
