Aug Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 Hello, I recently bought the lk-S450 and downloaded the Chordana app to transfer songs in the piano so i downloaded many midi files but not from midiworld.com, but from youtube where people were giving free midi files and those files really work on the app, i can see both hands playing but when i transfer it to the piano with a cable the piano gets it, however when i play lesson mode with both hands only the led from the left hand/left part are coloured, the right part is playing itself without waiting for me to play any key, so i tried to see if it was my files by transfering predowloaded Chordana song in the piano and in this case both hand are coloured so i think this might be a problem with the midi files but i dont really know that much about this kind of files so if anyone knows how to make it work please tell me. (the midi files i downloaded are from kesh's youtube channel if anyone wanna see those files) Thank you Quote
Brad Saucier Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 Usually key lighting issues with MIDI files are due to how the files are arranged as far instrument parts. The keyboard expects left and right hand parts to be two separate tracks. You'll need to check the MIDI files for that by playing them and finding which part number is left and which is right. Sometimes the files will place both parts together making it impossible to separate them. Hopefully this helps. Quote
Aug Posted July 6, 2024 Author Posted July 6, 2024 Thanks you for your answer, i juste wanted to add that when i disable the left hand on chordana and then transfer, only this part is lighted up. And if the problem comes from my midi files do you know how to make midi files that are compatible with this piano ? Thank you Quote
Brad Saucier Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 Just to make sure we're on the same page, Chrordana app is no longer the latest version. Download "Casio Music Space". This replaces Chrordana. Quote
Aug Posted July 7, 2024 Author Posted July 7, 2024 Yes i use this one and i wanted to add that when i play a song that i dowloaded on the app with a midi file from external source, and when its linked to my piano both part are lighted up but it is when i transfer the song and then disconnect my piano from the app that no part are lighting up. Thanks for your answer Quote
Brad Saucier Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 Can you share a screenshot of the app where you transfer the song? I was not aware the app had a transfer function. Quote
Aug Posted July 8, 2024 Author Posted July 8, 2024 OK so i dont know how to add a picture from my phone but here is the link to the casio manual where it shows how to transfer a song. https://web.casio.com/app/en/piano/manual/BONDSYazxjwikq.html Quote
Brad Saucier Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 LK-S450 is not compatible with the transfer function. Note the list of compatible models on that page. To transfer MIDI files and specify left and right hand parts, you will need to follow the instructions on page EN 80 of the LK-S450 user manual titled "increasing selection of user songs". Quote
Aug Posted July 9, 2024 Author Posted July 9, 2024 Thank you, I read this page on this url: https://support.casio.com/storage/fr/manual/pdf/EN/008/LKS450_usersguide_EN.pdf If this is the right page then i don't know how this can help me because i think the problem comes from the fact that my midi file has only one track and that is maybe why it only works for the left part so i wanted to know if you knew how to make midi files able to have 2 part so it may work. Thanks Quote
Brad Saucier Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 Unfortunately it is often difficult to split a single part into 2 parts. Sometimes left and right hand parts can use the same keys depending on the song. I'm not aware of any software that can do this automatically. You can manually separate the notes using DAW software and the piano roll view copy and paste functions. It would be tedious and takes some understanding of music to work with note events in a piano roll view. Quote
Aug Posted July 9, 2024 Author Posted July 9, 2024 Okay thanks for your help! I have dowloaded an app named MuseCore to dowload the midi files and get their partitions and i know pretty much nothing about how to read these sheets but i can see that there seems to be the upper line that is for the highest notes and the down part seems to be for the low notes so maybe i will try to find something to do with this. (the midi files i downloaded are from kesh's youtube channel if anyone wanna see those files) Thank you Fix for your problem with right hand keys not lighting up. At least it worked for me: I struggled with the same issue, only getting left hand chords lit once the midi is transfered onto the LK-S450 (might be the same with LK-S250). It is because the keyboard defaults to the wrong channels for right hand, or both. (I write the below description to also help others that needs midifiles to start with) This is how to solve it: 1. Find free midifiles that you don’t have to pay or subscribe to download. For example from youtube channels ”Cosmic Piano” Freepianotutorials.net Paul Rahme (very impressive but advanced) Save them to your phone or tablets file directory. 2. Install Chordana or preferably the newer Casio Music Space. 3. Use a USB-C or Lightning adapter for your phone or tablet and connect it to the keyboards Micro-USB port with a suitable cable. (I had to try three different cables to find one that made the app and keyboard find eachother.) The app should now tell you that you are connected to the keyboard. If not. Try other cables. 4. In the app: Go to the interface with Piano roll. Press the download icon in top right corner next to the question mark. Choose your midifile. Press ok. 5. Press the big cogwheel in top right corner. (Not sure yet what matters in the choices you can make here). Scroll down and press ”Song Transfer”. Choose the storage number you want for it and transfer. 6. Now. The miracle: On your Casio LK-S450 keyboard: press the ”Song”-button. Turn the toggle wheel until you find the transfered midi-song. Press the far left button under the display that says ”Back”. Now press the middle display button that says ”Channel”. Use the toggle wheel to set the Right channel to channel ”1”. Press the button that says ”Left” and then use the toggle wheel to set it to channel 1 as well. (You can later experiment with other channels that might work). Press ”Back” once. Now press the play/stop button. The keys will light up for both hands. You can now also press the ”Lesson” button and start learning. I hope it worked out for you! Most files are not separated into left and right hand. So you might not get to practise one hand at the time. Some of the Midi-files seem a bit messed up but most are good. If anyone can wrap their head around it I’d love to know: In the Chordana and Music Space - interface I would like to know how to access and use the ”specify the right- and left-hand parts”-interface. Please let me know. Also if you have any tips on good sources for free piano Midi-files I would appreciate it. Have fun playing the LK-S450!
