CasioKeyboard345
Hello all, I have a Casio CT-X700 keyboard. I am a part time church organist. My primary practice instrument is a 1960s era vintage Conn Serenade analog organ. It has been a fine instrument for practicing when I play for church services. With that being said, however, I am looking into getting GrandOrgue or Hauptwerk software for use with my CT-X700 keyboard. I am relatively new to the MIDI world and have a couple of questions: 1.) Is anybody here familiar with GrandOrgue or Hauptwerk pipe organ software? Is this type of software compatible with this keyboard? 2.) I was thinking of getting the Roland UM-ONE-MK2 One in Two Out MIDI cable, as I've heard they're reliable for this kind of setup. Would I also need a separate USB MIDI interface (hub style) device or USB hub that I can properly plug this cable into? The reason I ask is because I noticed that this keyboard lacks traditional MIDI connectors and only has a USB style connector in the rear. The existing ports currently in use are for the power adapter and sustain pedal. (see picture). Thank you! Your assistance with this matter is greatly appreciated! Brad Saucier
Welcome to the forums! Sounds like you'll be having lots of fun soon. All you need to get started playing virtual MIDI software instruments on a computer is a standard USB printer cable (type B to type A cable). Connect your CT-X700 to your computer with it. Open your software and look for a MIDI configuration setup menu. You will find "CASIO USB MIDI" as an available controller. That should do it. Sound will come from your computer speakers or computer headphone/line output jacks.
CasioKeyboard345
Thanks, Brad! I just ordered a USB printer cable (type B to type A) specifically for my keyboard. I will report back if I have any issues.
