gabriel b Posted August 20 Posted August 20 Hello there. So Ive just acquired my Casio musical keyboard, a CT-X800. Working perfectly fine, sounds good, everything alright. Except that when first tried connecting it to my computer to use midi, it just doesnt work. Reading the manual, it says that connecting the keyboard for the first time it would auto install the drivers and then start interacting with the computer. But it doesnt seem to connect. Ive already tested the usb cable and the computer usb ports. So I went to manually download the drivers. Ive downloaded and installed this driver (https://support.casio.com/pt/support/download.php?cid=008&pid=75) even though it doesnt mention CTX800 as compatible and my OS is Windows 10. It still doesnt seem to react, not the slightlest sign. Also I do use Ableton Live 11 as my DAW, but the keyboard doesnt even seem to react to the computer itself. The keyboard is also brand new. Can someone please help me? I've searched a lot for a usb driver that is compatible with CTX800 and Windows 10. Quote
Solution Brad Saucier Posted August 21 Solution Posted August 21 All modern Casio USB equipped keyboards are class compliant USB MIDI controllers. It is plug and play. The driver is installed by Windows automatically and is supplied by Microsoft, not Casio. DO NOT install drivers from the Casio website. Those are only compatible with a small number of older keyboards and are not compatible with any modern Casio models. Connect the keyboard to the computer with a standard USB printer cable. Do not use the USB Type-A port on the keyboard. That is only for a USB flash drive. MIDI uses the Type-B USB port. Open Windows Device Manager and look for "Casio USB MIDI" under "sound video and game controllers". Is it there? If so, the keyboard is installed correctly. 1 1 Quote
gabriel b Posted November 10 Author Posted November 10 It worked. Indeed, the usb cable was the wrong type. Thx a lot. I had no idea 1 Quote
