Chas Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 My latest video looks back at Casio’s much loved and influential classic, vintage and iconic keyboards, and also asks why Casio hasn’t embraced their rich legacy by re-issuing many of these models in updated form. Hopefully with some critiquing and nudging, maybe Casio will finally give us modern interpretations of their models that many of us have been crying out for! 1 1 Quote
hant7 Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 Ностальгия по винтажным инструментам? Возможно Вы недостаточно изучили современные инструменты CASIO? 2 Quote
silent Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 I'd love to see a return of the ZP-I engine synths (like the MZ-2000) and the software that went with them. Perhaps Casio can release it as open source? Also would love some VZ series synths. With the grouping capability, they had. And ofc my personal favorite the WK-1800 But with twice as many voices. We can produce much denser chips, so it should be possible to fit a larger and more capable synth engine inside of it. 1 Quote
IanB Posted September 10, 2024 Posted September 10, 2024 People still love the CZ synth engine, and I've also been baffled since 1982 or whatever as to why they never developed the VL-1 (VL-Tone) further. It was like they never realised what they had. 2 Quote
CYBERYOGI =CO=Windler Posted September 30, 2024 Posted September 30, 2024 Casio should make a small keyboard remake of the classic SA-series sound engine, but with fully editable synth parameters (perhaps velocity sensitive, similar like Yamaha PSS-A50). Cruicial is that it has to be self-contained (possibly USB midi for sysex and data storage) and not infested with app crap nor bluetooth. (I do not buy any mobile radio garbage.) 1 Quote
Jay C Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 Hi @Chas and others Yeah, I kinda agree with you. At least they (CASIO) could relaunch the MT-60 all in original shape and functionality, now that it has found out that it was an instrument used in the recording of Michael Jackson's Thriller as shown in this video (to give an example): MJ’s Thriller Frog Bass … Found! CYBERYOGI =CO=Windler Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Casio MT-65 is quite similar but more versatile than MT-60 (not the same chips). Its preset "funny" resembles "frog" and with the envelope switches it may be adjusted even closer. 1 Quote
Helfried Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 Haha, I've had an MT-60 lying around for several years and never really found it particularly interesting, apart from the fact that it looks pretty. And now it turns out that it was used for a worldwide hit - wow. Thriller would certainly never have been so successful without the Frog sound. I should double a few bass notes with it on one of my next productions. On the subject: Yes, I'd also like to see Casio revive some of the old concepts in a new mini keyboard - e.g. simple sampling, but with a few more functions than in the CT-S500, a la SK1 etc. Or something like the MT-400v with filters and “WOW” effects, everything adapted to today and with simple, clear handling, without menu diving. But I think Casio has its own ideas and is unlikely to be guided only by a few 80s nostalgics like us 😉 2 Quote
