jrosand Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 When I have a split on my PX-560 Piano with upper tone: Piano and and lower tone: acoustic bass, how do I get the Acoustic bass not to sustain when I use my sustain pedal? I do want the sustain on the upper split to sustain the piano tone.. Same goes for an electric piano tone that I dial in vibrato with the mod wheel but the mod wheel has no effect on the bass sound split. Also my sustain pedal has no effect on the bass split I have on the left hand split. The bass split in the left hand would not have sustain on it as well. Quote
Brad Saucier Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 Press menu>controller and edit any controller you want to change. Each one has upper or lower enable, turn them on or off as needed. Save the setup as a registration. Quote
Solution jrosand Posted October 2, 2024 Author Solution Posted October 2, 2024 I'm not seeing anything for a lower controller enable but am seeing an edit for two upper. I am having trouble shutting off the sustain pedal controlling the lower bass sound of the split. I can't seem to find anything concerning setting up a split in the manual. On the edit page there are two parts 1 and 2 . I'm having trouble understanding the process of setting up a split with bass with no sustain on the left of the split and piano with sustain in the right half of the keyboard. Thank you so much for your assistance. Quote
Brad Saucier Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 To clarify, this is what you are looking for in the controller menu. 1. Press MENU 2. Press Controller 3. Press pedal edit You should find the following on page 1 and 2 of the menu.... Upper 1 Enable Upper 2 Enable Lower 1 Enable Lower 2 Enable Turning those ON or OFF activates or deactivates the pedal for each part. See page EN-76 of the manual for more details. Quote
jrosand Posted October 2, 2024 Author Posted October 2, 2024 God bless you for all your assistance. I simply cannot find the menu that you are talking about. I don't see anything for Lower 1 and Lower 2. only Upper 1 and Upper 2. I will try and find the menu that you are talking about. I keep seeing at the very top of the screen labeled as column 1 and column 2. Please excuse my ignorance concerning this matter. I am suppose to be looking at the "controller" category of the menu screen right? Thanks Jim Quote

jredfield Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Sorry I'm late to the party. I'm trying to do like others - bass in the LH, piano in the RH, with only the piano sustaining when the pedal is depressed. I believe I'm doing everything correctly (the video really helps), but for some reason, the LH bass part keeps sustaining no matter what I do. I'm turning L1 and L2 to off for the Pedal Editing. Any suggestions? I bought my PX560 used (in excellent condition), so maybe something is malfunctioning. Quote
Brad Saucier Posted March 4 Posted March 4 To clarify, are you using split mode with a piano tone as upper 1 and a bass tone as lower 1? Does the pedal currently start and stop the sustain of upper 1 and lower 1 tones simultaneously? Quote
jredfield Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Hi Brad. Thanks for your quick response. Yes to both your questions. I also don't understand when I get to the screen for the pedal editing, there is a choice at the top of the screen for Parameter 1 and Parameter 2. What are those for? Quote
Brad Saucier Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Each pedal and knob will have a Parameter 1 and Parameter 2. This allows a knob or pedal to control two different functions simultaneously. As a basic sustain pedal, Parameter 2 is not used. As far as sustain, if you have turned off Lower 1 Enable, the pedal should no longer be causing sustain of the lower 1 tone. As soon as you turn off Lower 1 Enable, it will no longer sustain Lower 1. I'm not sure what would be causing it to continue. Perhaps a short YouTube video can help us spot the issue. Quote
jredfield Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Thanks! If I can't get it to work with your latest suggestions, I'll post a video. Quote
jredfield Posted March 5 Posted March 5 I did a factory reset of the keyboard and the sustain works properly now, only affecting the Upper tone. Thanks for your help! 1 Quote
