Melkman Posted November 21, 2024 Posted November 21, 2024 Just a quick hello from the Netherlands! This week I bought myself a new Casio, signed up here and with your help and enthousiasm I probably won't regret. The model is running out obviously, but that has advantages too.... MIDI connection to my laptop works very well with M-Vave Ms1 Midi wireless gear that you can buy for a few $/€s and yes the USB port charges! It also works instantly with an iPad after it has been connected once through the camera kit. Loaded the alternate order file from Mike and here we go. Sounds amazing through some big monitor speakers. Q: I'm interested in auto-accompaniment software (app or windows) and tried OMB (one man band) and Jammer live. Any suggestions from the forum other than learning to play piano better or buying proper gear? Kind regards, Dirk Veldhorst Quote
Choppin Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Hi, Not quite the same as auto-accompaniment but: first check out some of the stage settings that use the built in phrases and arpeggios and use keyboard splits and layers to create "multi-track" patches. The idea is with a single key press you can have a background part playing with instruments and beats and with the other hand you could play a melody. With some programming you can design your own phrases to play back what you want. And with zones and hex layers you can have a lot of accompaniment. Take this a step further and link phrases together on separate tracks in the PX-5s song sequencer and you can build entire songs and play along with them. You can also record wave files that are complete band accompaniments. You could build those using any tools or get some public domain versions (or whatever), save those on a flash drive, plug the flash drive into the PX-5s and have the waves play back while you play on the keyboard - all of the sound routing through the Px-5s. You can also play back MIDI files in a similar way and play along with them. For example, if you used the VST Instacomposer on your computer (it procedurally automatically creates MIDI tracks), saved the output as a MIDI file, you could load the MIDI file into the PX-5s through a flash drive. There are a lot of options and a lot of built in tools where you don't necessarily need external sources or programs to have an accompaniment on the Px-5s 1 Quote
Melkman Posted January 11 Author Posted January 11 Thanks Choppin for taking the time to answer my question. You give an excellent overview of the possibilities and it will sure help me in my next steps. Plenty of things to discover and work on. Thanks again! Quote
