First impact with a Privia PX-310 is just "discordant" - the action and piano sound are ok but I'm struggling with the rest and find it in general not very intuitive - examples:

1) Why not a simple metronome? I'm aware there are plenty of Rhythm to choose from but I found them mostly distracting - piano beginners need simplicity (then if there is a metronome hidden somewhere pls let me know).

2) The sound we play now should be the priority...why the display shows the Rhythm or whatever else and not the preset we choose? Ok, the priority is accompaniment and rhythm...this is ok for some, not for me.

3) the distinction of the different sets of sounds is just inconsistent - there are Panel sounds, Advanced sounds and GM sounds (and variations too) but no explanation on what is the difference between these apart from the numbers in front - eg what's the difference between the 31 Alto Sax in the Advanced set and the 105 GM Alto Sax? By listening to both the difference is minimal - one sounds brighter but it depends on the frequency range (or which range of keys we play).

4) the reliance on the Function key to check which sounds are associated to the one we are currently playing and the variation etc is just a bit of a pita. That's only one of the many functions associated with this single key....

5) The GM sounds should fit the number associated with common GM sounds. General Midi is what GM stands for and is designed for basic compatibility and simplicity ...in this case they start at 40 for Piano (not the expected 001)..I'm not sure what are the implication are but to me it seems to complicate things unnecessarirly.

6) The manual...I'm struggling to put together the scattered information from the manual - some concepts are presented but "suspended" for later....

7) The power supply stinks - the inner socket in the Privia has a very thin prong which doesn't make a good contact with a normal connector. Then the inner negative is basically "rare" and a way to force us to buy their psu (or some compatible) - there are plenty online....but why the need to buy them when we have plenty of PSU at home? I had to cut the cable of one and reverse the polarity....

I believe the internal battery is working as some crappy sequence is being played and kept in memory even when disconnecting the power...but shouldn't the last rhythm number used been stored too?

As a way to practice piano with weighted key - this Privia is ok for the price I paid (car boot sale) - I just forget all the rest and use the metronome from my app.
