Tom banjo Posted March 10 Posted March 10 (edited) I have been revisiting the keyboard lately -on the XW-- P1 and the ctx--anyway I finally got into---- trying to use the controllers--I could not find anything but Alenk's file (companion)which at least hit it with a glancing blow--I wondered if I was dumber than most or if others had got lost at that point--anyway a few things that helped me reach ,a bit of success --one has to run down 2 certain settings-to get there-- 1..... ....on the said controller if it is a control change command --it can only be assigned to one tone/instrument-they are the five drums then a line up of melody types--they start on 8 up thru 16--the part not said is one has to punch in the channel number -I tried the first solo and if memory is correct --for it to go thru I selected channel 14-- 2 .......if the applied command is one of the 4 knobs the channel choice is"blanked off--and the button affects all tones anyway once you get to that point--enjoy Edited March 10 by Tom banjo duhh moment Quote
AlenK Posted March 12 Posted March 12 I’m not sure what you mean by “button affects all tones” but I should clarify that control tracks that address knobs can only affect parameters of the first four parts, which are played in the four zones. Also, while not related to parts, control tracks that address knobs can affect which arpeggio is playing, which phrase is playing, which step-sequence is playing, which pattern of a step sequence is playing and which Performance is playing (with limited choices for all four). There are many things that can done with those last ones, only a few of which I tried to describe in The XW-P1 Companion. I really should update it to describe more of the possibilities. Big job, though. 1 Quote
Tom banjo Posted March 12 Author Posted March 12 thanks Alen----without your companion --I would have been completely lost--your experience with synths-ability to hear their properties-and getting useful wisdom into text is a wonderful endeavor-- a lot of times when I buy a new toy -it will have a schematic in the manual--I wish there was a similar map in the xw-manual- Quote
