monoKrome Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Question about midi... I use midi with a few other instruments and am quite familiar with it. I'm wondering, and as usual can't find good information, if the WK-6500 accepts midi input from a sequencer or other keyboards, or if it's just for use with a DAW. Quote
Brad Saucier Posted March 15 Posted March 15 WK-6500 has a USB MIDI to host port. It can act as a GM sound module for external MIDI sources. You'll need a host device for this USB connection. Some third party USB MIDI host boxes are available for working with transitional MIDI port devices. Quote
monoKrome Posted March 16 Author Posted March 16 Yes I have a Roland UM-ONE interface, which I've connected between my Alesis SR18 and the keyboard. I set the channels to 1, but the WK-6500 isn't receiving anything. I realize that it only receives to parts B01 and up in the mixer. Quote
Brad Saucier Posted March 17 Posted March 17 That particular configuration won't allow communication between the devices. Roland UM-ONE is a USB client device designed to be connected to a host device (a computer), and so is the WK. To clarify, a host can be a computer, tablet, smartphone or specialized USB MIDI host box like this one. The USB standard requires a host to establish communication between between USB clients. You'll need one of the host options to make everything play together. Quote
monoKrome Posted March 17 Author Posted March 17 Thanks Brad, I suspected that could be the issue. I use the SR18 with a Roland TD3 head and a Korg R3 linked with midi, it's a great setup that allows me to use various components of the SR18's and the TD3's drums, and drive separate bass and layered synth cording or arpeggios on the R3 all at once. Was hoping the Casio would accept a through signal from the R3 so I could use some of its very nice pianos and strings, but alas.... Quote
