Hi everyone,

I own a CZ-5000 since about a year and have been really enjoying it.

I have gotten some great sysex patches for it on the internet, that I sent to the synth using sysex librarian — at this step everything works perfectly.

However, I'd like to be able to save the sysex patches to the memory slots, but can't figure it out even after reading the manual 10 times.

I perform the following operation: I send the preset from my computer to the synthesizer, play the synthesizer to make sure the preset has landed, press write (at this point I've already disabled memory protection), then select a memory slot, the screen displays “write OK! “but immediately afterwards, when I try to play the keyboard again, there's either no sound at all if I was already on a memory slot, or there's the original preset if I was initially on a preset slot.

Anybody knows whereas I'm missing something ?

Thanks !

Raphaël

If you're on Windows, try my patch editor VZV-CZ, it can write and read direct to the memory slots. Link in my sig.

Do you have patches in any of the memory slots that actually work, and is  your internal battery ok?

Hi Ian,

Thanks for answering, unfortunately I'm not on Windows...

All the memory slots are empty ; I thought it was simply by default because I had nothing written on them, but do you think it could be the sign of a faulty internal battery ?

Yes, I'd guess your battery is dead. That's your starting point. Nobody expected these synths to be in service 40 years later!

If the CZ5000 has the same battery back up as the CZ3000, then you'll find a battery hatch on the underside of the keyboard that takes 3 x AA batteries. I'm pretty sure that only the CZ-1 has an internal (button cell) battery.
