Setting to start the engagement of the "step -sequencer''

So I have a recorder that puts midi clock out --when set ,as the Master in my set-up--My drum machine ,when set to slave picks up-- the recorders tempo and also starts anytime the recorder is engaged--This is great --everything stays in sync --When I set the XW to slave it picks up the tempo but does not automatic start --The machine has a midi setting menu as a global adjustment and also some in the performance  presets --Does anyone know ,how to set the keyboard to start it's step sequencer when it receives midi clock,thanks either way

Page E-70 of the user’s manual claims that setting the Sync Mode to “Slav” (Slave) is all that is required for the XW-P1 to start and stop the step sequencer in response to a MIDI Start/Stop command. 
 

Is the Start/Stop command being sent on the XW-P1’s basic channel?
