  1. Sonny, for more informations about the conversion process see pages 19-22 of the Data Editor manual. I can confirm that, to move the converted phrase to the right hand column, the PX-5S has to be hooked to the PC.
  2. SonnyDaye, you could choose a midifile, load it into a sequencer, select the drum track and then cut the measures (bars) you like and import them into the keyboard; the only problem is that I don't know if the PX-5S only acknowledges a special format (maybe Mike or Jared can clarify here).
  3. Mike wrote that a future firmware update should give us the ability to extract parts of the rhythm tracks of a midifile and convert them into drum patterns. This is a feature already present in many arranger keyboards, like the Korg PAs, and shouldn't be too difficult to implement.
  4. Jared, excellent suggestion. I will do as you said. Thanks.
  5. Thank you for your reply Mike; maybe a future update of the editor will make this possible? Or maybe will it be possible to save Stage Settings on -say- a pendrive to recall them later at will? After all, if there is a user area for Tones, why not one for Stage Settings as well?
  6. Jared, I see... pity, because the majority of the files I downloaded from this site are in ZPF format... is there a way to extract from these stage settings the tones I like and save them into the tone user slots?
  7. Hi Jared and Mike, I placed the ZPF files where the editor itself suggested (Documents\Casio\EMI\DataEditorPX5S\Data\ ); when I open the "file transfer" window if I select "tones" all is well and good: I can see on the left side my tones and on the right side the user slots, where I can drag and drop the tones. On the other hand if I choose "zones" I can see the ZPF files on the left side, while on the right side there are no user slots but only presets (which I don't want to overwrite). It's very likely that I am missing something, but I don't know what it is. Any help is appreciated.
  8. Is it normal that I cannot transfer ZPF files from the PC to the keyboard?
  9. Thank you Mike, I have just tried GrPnoNarrow and to me it sounds MUCH better than the other grand pianos. The problem is that now I will have to apply the same modifications in dynamics to all the other sounds, to suit my playing style; I guess that this is the main reason why I was asking for a customized curve.
  10. Hi Joe, no I haven't and now I will no doubt give it a try, but I still think that three velocity curves are not enough.
  11. There is a feature that should be easy to implement in a future firmware update and that was already present in a Kurzweil 1200 I had many years ago: the ability to create your own velocity curve. I remember that in the 1200 you were asked to play a key as soft as you could and then as hard as you could and the instrument would then build your personal curve based on these two extremes. It is possible that today there are more sophisticated ways to obtain the same result but this one is for sure a feature I still regret from that keyboard. If this is not feasible, I would like to have more velocity curves to choose from (like the Kronos has), since just three are not enough, or at least I was unable to find one that really suits me.
  12. Thank you, Nanook and Mike.
  13. Hi, after downloading and installing the firmware update 1.10 (without any problem, thanks to the excellent video posted by Mike) I downloaded the new sounds and copied them in the root directory of a pendrive, then inserted this in the front USB slot of the PX-5S, pressed "media", "load", scrolled down to sounds, pressed enter but got a reply of "No file". I tried again with a different pendrive (formatted by the PX-5S) and got the same answer, so I wonder: what am I doing wrong? Andrea
  14. I have a question: having downloaded and installed the update, do I need to load the 10 stage banks or are they already included in the firmware update? Thanks
