  1. Well, we know that Casio has shown us a new range of products. The CT-X line of keyboards consisting of the CT-X700/800/3000/5000 The cheapest will cost around 179 dollars if i'm correct, and that will feature 48 notes of polyphony, a 12 watt speaker system, +- 200 styles and +- 600 sounds. The most expensive one will cost about 400 dollars, which is pretty darn cheap if you ask me. 64 notes of polyphony. 30 watt speaker system. +- 240 styles and +- 800 sounds, and 4! Variations per style. The best part?! They've introduced a new sound engine called the AiX, and if you listen to the CT-X700 you'll get blown away! It has better soundquality than the PSR-E series (That start at 150 dollars i believe) And better polyphony. My imagination is that (we haven't heard it yet unfortunately) The CT-X5000 will sound even BETTER! And yes, the guitars will now have velocity switched noises like slides and things like harmonics, that's impressive. There are 3 things that i don't like about this (Or maybe my expectations were to high because of the MZ-X range) - No touchscreen (The UI on the MZ-X looks fantastic) - No matter how hard Casio tries they just can't hold a candle to the Sweet! Voices on the Yamaha's (And that's 22 year old technology) - Still that weird box-styled keybed, how hard can it be to go back to proper style keybeds that don't rattle or clang? I'm hoping that this topic will go to a proper spot (If this isn't the correct one) And that we can have nice discussions about the machines, and i'm sure we will! Because let's be honest, Casio have really REALLY outdone themselves this time in a budget range of keyboards!
  2. Orchestral Piece done entirely on the CASIO WK-1350. When Mike Martin listened to this, he could hardly believe that the WK-1350 was capable of such a thing! How many of YOU , in "Casio-Land" also like to do "orchestral" on YOUR Casio Keyboard of choice? Let us HEAR you!
  3. HI: I've decided to create this post to upload my music. And share it with you. Thank you. Mediodía 1. 4. Hello, How are you? I share with you some samples created with the CASIO XW-G1 after a long period of inactivity in this forum. The use of the XW-G1 is different from everything known and that makes it special. The XW-G1 really is a beast disguised as a foolish sheep. It offers an infinity of wonderful things. It is a jewel in the world of synthesizers and electronic music. Greetings and have a good day. Thank you. 80 A ring tone lo-fi Future PUM BUM yeeeeaa The banjo of the beast The cheerful machine The Walker The wandering whistle Tranquility
  5. I own a digital keyboard of CASIO. It is having 17 sets of percussion instruments. Now the problem is when I create a midi drum pattern, it is played by the first set, i.e. , Standard Set 1(It has all sounds of GM). But if I have to play it according to another set ( Ethnic set or Indian set) , is it possible? I believe there is some roll of bank set , is there?
  6. Hi I just wondering if a device is available that connects to midi out that can display the transpose settings for my CDP130 when I change them on the keyboard. I know that this feature is usually on higher priced models. I have considered connecting my Korg midi controller to midi in to control it as this has an led display that shows the transpose setting. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks Stuart
  7. So, the Yamaha Tyros is sold, and it's now time for something else to play on until i have enough money for the Yamaha Genos. Now, in Holland they sell the MZ-X500 for roughly 700 euro's BUT! In Germany i can get the MZ-X300 for about 400 euro's LESS. So that is a lot of money.. So i'm wondering, what exactly are the differences between the MZ-X300 and 500? 200 less tones (Because of the missing Hex Layer feature?) 128MB sample ram instead of 256MB ? 4 non-velocity sensetive pads instead of 16 velocity sensetive pads Less rythms (But you can probably load the X-500 rythms in there anyways..) Different colour. Anything else i'm missing here? I mean, 300 bucks for one of the best casio's out there (The other one being the X500) Is a steal.
  8. Not many synthesizers have a typical character to their sound, Yamaha's sounds too polished, Korg is too live, Roland is a very punchy but forgettable sound, but Casio's have a certain character, they never sound too live or too polished, but they do cut through a mix and have a certain, something that really adds up for that Casio sound.. You know what i mean? The Casio piano sounds from the 90s were terrible, the CTK-731 had a pretty bad plastic piano sound compared to the Yamaha's from that time period (PSR-7000/8000/9000 even had the LIVE! Grand Piano) BUT! I still enjoyed that piano sound more than i did the newer sounds with longer samples and stuff.. Drumwise, it's the same deal. Sure, my Tyros has fantastic sounding drums, but they don't stand up in a mix, they lack a certain punch, whils't even the WK-1800 drums i had (Especially the Power kit) Had incredible punch, the sound in terms of realism was meh (Although i love the toms!) But in terms of dynamics the Tyros drums didn't stand a chance. And even the toy keyboards sound really puncy and thick and dare i say? Fresh, compared to the Yamaha toy keyboards from the same time period.. The Casio SA range had a (i think) Very impressive piano sound, and a beautiful (Yes, i really love that sound) Church organ, and compared to the Yamaha's it was like night and day. What is it exactly that typical Casio character? Is it in the way they sample their sounds? (And please, can someone explain, HOW does the sampling of sounds for a keyboard work?) Because what i also hear a lot when i compare for example the Sweet! Tenor Sax from my Tyros to the BreathyTSax in the WK-3000 is that, the Yamaha sound is much nicer to the ear, better looppoints, and it's a more overall polished sound, but the Casio sound is more "In your face" And sounds really much more realistic despite the lack of the player's vibrato, how does that work? I think that this makes an interesting topic..
  9. File Name: Blade Runner (PX-5S) File Submitter: Mike Martin File Submitted: 22 Aug 2013 File Category: PX-5S Stage Settings Modeled after the famous introduction song by Vangelis in the movie Blade Runner, this is a 2 zone Stage Setting with a synth string and CS-80 style lead. 10. So, i was thinking about some things today while playing my old beaten up Tyros (Buttons that are very hard to press, screen is broken, but it still plays great) And i was wondering what it is that makes Casio so far behind with technology? - The styles are pretty bland, 15 years ago their styles sounded lifeless and it seems that it hasn't changed, what's up with that? They could've atleast try to spice them up, right? - Only since 2 years we get 4 variations on a Casio (With the exception of the MZ-2000 but that was already 18 years ago and rumor has it that the machine was developed with Roland) - We get Versatile tones, super awesome! But again, this is almost ancient technology, first machine to have that was the Yamaha Tyros, and that came out in 2002.. - We now get a brand new sound engine which finally seems to allow saxophones to have natural vibrato and flutes to have an overblown effect when you press a key hard.. However, that was introduced by Yamaha in 1997 in their Sweet! Voices. That's 21 years old.. - Velocitylayered drums.. Sorry but i had a Technics KN2000 which already had that. 2 To be precise. And that machine came out in 1993. I can list a couple of other things (Touchscreen, Roland used that in 2005 in the G-70, polyphony of 128? PSR-9000 Springs to mind, that was 1999) BUt i think i've made my point.. I love Casio to death, i really really do! Don't get me wrong. And if the CT-X5000 is really going to sound even better than the CT-X700 then i will buy it as a replacement for my Tyros. But WHY o WHY are they so far behind? I mean, the technology i'm talking about is what 15-20 years old roughly, so why is it so hard for Casio to implement it in to their machines? Why is it so hard for them to catch up with their competitors, is it because they don't want to, or because the can't? Not bashing Casio (my main axe for 3 years was a CTK-731 and until last November i played a WK-1800) But, this is something that has been bothering me for quite some time. Can someone explain/elaborate ? Thanks!
  11. Hi. My first test of CASIO CT-670, my the newest asset, heh. The song's name is "Mikromusikwerk 01". I left the original sound, just added some multitracking for various volume levels (which are not present on the machine itself). The sequencer was ATARI 520ST. Greetings.
  12. Hi everyone i have casio XW-P1, is there any chance to put new sounds in it? if it possible, how can i do that?
  13. I am new to this forum. I am looking to buy a Casio keyboard for my daughter (beginner pianist). I found a Casio Privia PX-120 at a reasonable price. The person says that it was purchased last year. Looks to be in mint condition. I am searching all over the web and cannot seem to find any recent info or discussions on this model. Everything dates back to 2008.... Not sure how new or how good this model is. The color of the keyboard is a slate grey. Does anyone have any idea? Thanks. Jeff
  14. Hi guys, I've just bought this piano brand new from Thomann (really great shop to buy music instruments) but don't know what to think. I don't have many experiences with digital pianos and I've learned that Casio keyboards are generally more noisy comparing with Yamaha and I'm fine with that but one of the keys is extremely clunky on back stroke. What is even worse it is E4 key. Sounds like keyboard or hammer is touching some plastics when returning to it's default position. Like there is no damping on that place. There is another one which is a bit more noisy than rest but not as bad at this one. The rest of the keyboard is OK. I've made a video of that so what do you guys think ? Return and replace ? What are the odds to get another one with the same issue ? It's kind of expensive to send back to Germany. I'm not sure if it's a defect or not. Is this rare thing or normal for Casio keyboards ? The noise is pretty annoying during play and I can hear it even with headphones. Also it's not pleasant once the finger leave the key. Everything works flawlessly but this is pretty distracting. Thanks for your opinions...
  15. When I connect my Piano CDP-120 with usb cable type a-b my computer read it but I can't use my piano with LMMS (The software I have installed)... My first question is: Which is the driver download for CDP-120 for Windows 10? My second question is: Can I use LMMS or I have to install other software?
  16. Hi Folks, Nice to be here. My name is Marty W. I recently bought for my fiancee a Casio CTK-6200 Keyboard Sequencer. A very nice little machine. Years ago I owned a Roland XP-60 and while I loved that machine it was an absolute BEAR to deal with. So I'm really happy with the Casio. Here's the thing though...Linda is NOT a musician and I got her this so she could make use of track recording and: 1.) Learn some basic piano skills like chords and melody 2.) So she could record melodic ideas she comes up with for the lyrics she writes for us. She is the lyricist and I'm the musician. Very nice working relationship for the most part. However, as she's improved her lyrical skills, she finds that often she hears a melody in her head she wants me to use in the music but cannot sing it to me or play it. Hence the sequencer so she can simply record the melodic lines to the SSD drive and I can import it into my Studio One DAW. Nothing complicated for the moment. Eventually we will both jump in and incorporate it into the entire studio set up but for now that's all we need to do. Finally found a video that walks us through the track recording process, but for the moment just really need to be able to save the tracks she records. Cannot for some reason save these files to the sim card. Not sure what I'm doing wrong and cannot seem to find a simple press this and so on to do this simple process. It's got to be something simple I'm just not seeing on the keyboard but I could sure use some help. Thanks. Marty
  17. This is a review I wrote recently for a spanish forum (which is not indexed by Google and so on unavailable for most people). I think it may be of use for potential buyers of a medium range keyboard so I'm including it here even when it's written in spanish and this is an english forum just because posting it here will make it widely available (Google does index this forum). Anyway, if you don't speak spanish and still want to read it, you can use this automatic translation tool.
