  1. Guess I thought it was some other kind of app, oh well.
  2. I don't do the facebook thing either, this is the only forum I have ever joined .
  3. If this will work with my laptop im going to crap myself.
  4. Hi Joe, welcome to xw-p1 ownership and the forum. I too fell for the xw-p1 for its analog synth sound (mono) or (poly) . Hex layer and solo synth is where I get most of the analog mojo. I use my xw-p1 in my home recording studio, and after about a month of learning the xw-p1 and recording with it I forgave it its many flaws, cause for me at the end of the day this synth is still amazing. Theres just something really good about the sound engine. PS, I have found if I use the xw-p1 with external stereo midi controled fx , the skys the limit.
  5. I have found if I use external overdrive and or distortion from my hardware multi fx in my d.a.w as an insert instead of xw-p1 insert overdrive/distortion ,the xw-p1 overdrive/distortion guitars take on a whole new life, and sounds as good as any synth guitar emulation out there. If you want good xw-p1 dist/ overdrive guitars, insert external dist/overdrive fx.
  6. Thank you Mr Martin , I will wait for your reply.
  7. Does anybody know if there is a way to save pattern chains in performance mode? Sorry for the dum dum question.
  8. Hi Mihajlo, Just ribbing korg a little , actually ive preordered the volca keys, I have the monotrons too. what I was crudely saying is for band in the box the xw-p1 does more. but I agree that the korg volcas are different beast and have their own analogue flavor. would love to have all three. p.s. I really don't think one xw-p1 beats three korg volcas, or three korg volcas beats one xw-p1. If anything they would all just complement each other and play well together.
  9. Been exploring the twenty drum kits on the xw-p1, i was happily surprised to find 376 various kicks, snares and many other drum samples when in edit, inst edit mode. I really like this ,theres more than twenty kits, a lot more. this synth just keeps getting better for me.
  10. Hi, cunitflon . to get to eq from xw-p1 , press and hold mixer button, then press arrow down button in the right section until master eq appears, press enter.
  11. Hi forum, if anyone on the forum has read any of my post, you probably know by now that I think the xw-p1 is one of the top ten keyboards of all time. Some may say that's a bit much, so I thought I would explain. First the sounds, the pads and leads are among the best out there (tweak em) they have a nice balance of analog and pcm vibe.in most cases they surpass analog mono or poly synths, except filter sweeps. I owned a Yamaha motif 6 (original) had to sell It in oct, 2012 to help pay for my moms funeral, but the pads and leads on the xw-p1 sound better to my ears than the motif. The xw-p1 has its own sound but also sounds like other synths .Nice ,phat and well rounded, except the dist, guitars, and overdrive guitars. Second ,the step seq. My motif had a pattern seq, but it was to much a linear type seq, (what you play ,what you get.) The xw-p1 has a way better pattern seq, its like what the original korg karma tried to be, that is to say that the original karma function wasn't programmable , I have got unpredictable results from the xw-p1 step seq by going against the grid, and theres other ways in the seq to vastly alter your seq. You could just goof off in the step seq and get really cool results. You can collaborate with the xw-p1 seq and create things and go in directions you may not have thought of, The mark of a great groove box. Third, its light and truly portable, Fourth, the xw-p1 is a little bit of everything , performance synth, anaolog like synth, workstation, arranger, mixer. Fith, value, I got my xw-p1 factory refurbished for 350, it was like brand spanking new, but even at the going price of 4 to 5 hundred dollars its still a nice price. Sixth, the look, its like an arp 2600 and a ufo had a baby, the coolest looking synth ever. Of course ,this is just one mans opinion.
  12. Just a little something I would like to share. If I would have heard the demo songs first on the xw-p1, I might not have been all that impressed with the xw-p1.Its not that there performed bad or anything, its just that they sound kinda weak. Its strange cause the step seq sounds bigger and fatter, and the tones and hex and everything else sounds somehow phatter compared to the demoes .I guess its that enigma part of the xw-p1, im just glad my first impression was Mike Martins utube videos. In those videos you hear more of the phat sounds this synth can make, and don't get me started on pads, among the best out there.
  13. I see a time in the not to distant future when young people will snatch up xw-p1s by the boatloads, young people with more talent than money will make some fantastic music, more than likely at some point you will hear the xw-p1s on some hit songs. Then a little farther down the road the xw-p1 will be sought after for its analog, groove box, all in one vibe. Eventually, a little farther into the future when keyboard magazine does a best synths of the early 21st century issue, it will be featured right there with the other 20 or 30 other synths. The xw-p1 is worthy.
  14. I hooked up my casio sk1 sampling keyboard to my xw-p1 through the 1/4 inputs, and turned on the external osc. this is really cool, i was getting all kinds of sonic weirdness. I was getting some unearthly vocal fx with the sampled vocals, and i found i could create all kinds of strange analog type stuff.I was able to get that EDGER WINTER frankenstein effect by using the sk-1 synth drums with xw-p1 filter, res, and delay. Im gonna leave the sk-1 hooked up this way to the xw-p1, two synths merge together, simply awesome.
  15. Wow! I watched some utube videos of the MZ-2000. Thats one KICK A** synth, has some of that yamaha cs80 mojo, nice vangelis type pads, and other sonic weirdness. Other than the floppy drive, this synth was some what ahead of its time.I also loved the way it looks, like being in the cockpit of an advanced experimental space ship, sweet ride.
  16. Im going to go to utube and download some videos of the MZ-2000, sounds like a really cool synth, Im obssessed with watching utube videos of synths and other musical stuff,
  17. Hi Brad Mz-2000, chrome blue would be the coolest looking of the chromes. Currently im customizing my own tones on the xw-p1. Of all the synths ive owned the xw-p1 it seems has the most untapped potential, ive got user tones out of it (tones),(hex),(organ),(solo synth) that go far beyond the presets. When i get a hundred user tones i will upload them to the forum to share with other xw-p1 users. I to love the look of the xw-p1, so much that i have to say its the coolest looking synth ive ever seen.Theres just something wonderfully retro, yet something wonderfully futuristic about its look.
  18. HI, i thought i had the xw-p1 figured out, but im not a jedi yet. Theres still some stuff in there, the xw-p1 is pretty deep for a 500 dollar performance synth. If theres any knowledge on the xw-p1 i can share, i would be glad to try and help out on the forum. Speaking of the forum, ive noticed the numbers are going up for new members, seems to be averaging about one a day.Hope these numbers continue to grow.
  19. Hi mike, just wanted to say thanks for answering my dumb questions.i know your a very busy man, and i thank you sir for your time. with your help from the many videos you made with the xw-p1,and your help in answering my questions, and long nights delving into the xw-p1, ive finally mastered it. The hardest part for me to figure out was the file system. It seems simple now,but for some reason i couldnt completely get it at first. Again, thank you for your help, and your time.
