  1. A new piece for your enjoyment, a Rat with a Mission!!! Double Oh Rat!!! https://soundcloud.com/happyrat1/double-oh-rat?in=happyrat1/sets/gary-g-s-singles Gary
  2. I just checked. I was right. They are Pipe Organ Stops for the Drawbar Organ Function. Gary
  3. Those look like Pipe Organ Stops to me. Possibly the P1 and the G1 share the same display and the reason you've never seen them on a G1 is that there are no drawbar organs. I'll check my P1 later on tonight. Gary
  4. I'm still waiting for the technology where you just hum a tune in your head and the computer plays it with full orchestration We're already getting closer... Gary
  5. I've had one for years. I think I paid like $55 for mine. They're loads of fun and you can just stuff em in a bag and use them anywhere. Gary
  6. Nonetheless, does it have tuning +/- buttons? For that matter does it have any built in effects? Always makes sense to cover the basics. Gary
  7. First question whenever anyone says their instrument is out of tune. Are the Pitch and Mod Wheels Zeroed?
  8. More like this... Better music anyway.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uEJRmoIDVc
  9. XW you bahstid!!! I cannot unsee what I've just seen. Now I have to hokey poke out my eyes and play the Stevie Wonder circuit Gary Scott >> Your video is the last enjoyable thing these eyes will ever see
  10. I don't own a PX-5S but one thought that comes to mind if the update procedure is like other keyboards is a stuck button or buttons on powerup putting the keyboard automatically into upgrade mode. Gary
  11. Q: G1 and P1 Flow Chart Block Diagrams? A: XW_Presentation.pdf
  12. Take a look at the PDF I uploaded to your block diagram thread. Gary
  13. There's a few block diagrams of the XW's in this powerpoint presentation converted to a PDF. XW_Presentation.pdf Gary
  14. Craigslist is the BEST place to pick up used gear locally. Looking on my local craigslist this week I see a few Boss DR880 drum machines going for $250 each. I'm sorely tempted to pick one up. Anyway, to me at least, what makes craigslist superior to ebay is the fact that you get to test the merchandise before you buy as well as $Zero shipping costs. Craigslist is the gearhead musician's best friend Gary
  15. If your friend puts it up on craigslist under the category "Free Stuff" I guarantee it will be gone within 24 hours. The vultures are always circling there and I just gave away an old CRT TV there last week. I'd had three responses to my ad within 2-1/2 hours and it was picked up the following day. Gary
  16. BTW, if you end up buying the PX-150 and she's a good little girl before xmas you could always spend another $100 and buy her a Zoom RT223 Drum Machine to play along with. Let's face it, the "Tick-Tick-Tick" of the metronome can drive you buggy after a while and it's nice to take a break with a smooth Bossa Nova or R&B beat http://www.amazon.com/Zoom-RT223-Rhythm-Trak-Machine/dp/B000P3WE60 If you shop around on craigslist I'm sure you could find one for well under $100 AUD. Cheers! Gary
  17. Your daughter is a very lucky child. When I was her age and wanted to learn piano I was offered an accordion or one of those nasty little chord organs. I chose neither I waited til I turned 18 and bought myself a Yamaha Silver Plated Flute for my birthday. I couldn't afford a REAL synthesizer until I was well into my second childhood in my mid thirties. :D I think the PX-150 is the better choice anyway. Your girl might prefer the CDP cause of all the nifty voices, but as you said, you can always hook up the PX-150 to a computer and use it to control soft synths or perhaps later on you'll shell out for a decent used rack module and have the best of all worlds. Rock on! Gary
  18. Q: Using Microphone In for Voice Synth? A: http://www.casiomusicforums.com/index.php?/topic/8075-using-microphone-in-for-voice-synth/
  19. BTW, just a thought, but if you truly think your daughter shows promise as a piano player you might want to shell out a few extra bucks and get her the PX-350. That one should hold her for the next ten years at least without needing anymore upgrades. Believe me, sometimes it's better to spend a few dollars more to get the one you REALLY want than try and sell off a starter keyboard when it comes time to upgrade. The PX-350 should also hold its resale value better should she end up dropping music altogether. Gary
  20. Q: Can I put a DSP Filter Effect on All Channels? A: http://www.casiomusicforums.com/index.php?/topic/8089-can-i-put-a-dsp-filter-effect-on-all-channels/
  21. That's the Gold Edition. Whomever wrote that web page is obviously color blind. Even in the photo on that page you can plainly see it's a gold/copper color and not chrome Gary
  22. I remembered about year or two ago when they were first released as special editions. I'd had no idea they'd found their way to Ebay already though. There was also a less limited special "Gold" edition of the XW-P1 though that one was no where nearly as rare as these Jackson Pollack Puke Fests were. :D I'm 100% with Chas on this one. They look ridiculous and the only place they wouldn't look out of place is on a 1960's psychedelic tour bus :D Gary
  23. I think if your daughter wants to have a little fun with her playing the CDP-230 is the better deal. If she is seriously considering becoming a pianist as her career, however, I think the PX-150 has the better quality keyboard. I'd suggest bringing her piano teacher along when you make your choice and get her opinion on the two units. Paying her for an hour of her time is likely a better investment than blindly choosing one or the other based on third person reviews. Speaking of which, here's a couple of pretty thorough reviews to help you decide. http://azpianonews.blogspot.ca/2014/08/Casio-CDP230R-Review-digital-piano-portable-Costco-low-price-privia-under-500-beginner-keyboard-.html http://azpianonews.blogspot.ca/2012/07/review-casio-px350-px150-privia-digital.html Sorry I can't be more help, but you are asking us to make a very personal decision for you that can only be made by hands on experience with both models in question. Gary
  24. I will PERSONALLY autograph an XW of your choice using only the finest Sharpies for a paltry $2000 CDN!!! That's like $4 American!!!! How can anyone resist such a BARGOON!!!!!! (Supplies are limited... Act now while operators are standing by!!!) 1-800-U-STOOPID :D Gary
  25. A very evocative and beautiful piece. I salute you. Gary
