  1. Well I've given up ! I guess the XW-P1 just isn't the beast to recreate this sound, it seems an unduly complicated procedure to recreate something that should be simple on a synth, I was also disappointed with the DSP effects ? However all is not lost ! Playing my PX-350 rotary organ through a tremolo pedal gives a pretty darn good representation.
  2. In the meantime for ipad owners there is the Animoog app!
  3. Well I've learned more about the gubbins of my XW-p1 trying to reproduce "won't get fooled again" than I ever did trying to read the manual. I can now produce new performances,Hexlayers,Solo Synths but for the hell of trying I cannot get that Who sound. I am going quietly insane here as I have already drove the wife to despair and have been ordered to wear me headphones...that's her off me Christmas card list !
  4. I play Casio's ....Get over it. Well that's the sticker I want lol ! Not ashamed of the brand at all and see absolutely no need for a rebranding. Here's a pic of my set up on stage.
  5. How about a competition to see who gets the who on their XW synth ? Don't get fooled again XW style . Being a person who doesn't know how their dual heating system in the car works after two years I don't hold out much hope of being in the top ten, but I'll give it my best shot !
  6. I have been trying to create a hexlayer ( the classic organ at the beginning of the Who's wont get fooled again) rather miserably I must say. The closest I can get is using the 8 beat arpeggio but I can't get it to be built into the user preset is there a way of doing this ?
  7. I think it may well be the blue LEDs ,combined with the angle of the XW on the top stand ? It's causing the orange boarders to glare back hence causing the orange spots in my eyes ?? But still very strange ?
  8. I play my XW-P1 as part of a twin set, however I have been getting orange spots in the eyes after playing for only a short while this then sometimes induces a headache. This may sound crazy, but yes it is actually happening and is concerning me. The only connection I can see is the orange panelling on the XW is somehow reflecting back at me and causing the large orange spots in my eyes possibly caused by the angle in the twin set up ? But it happens every time I play it, particularly at home in daylight. Has anyone else had this happen ? Just trying to get to the bottom of it ?
  9. Certainly can. At home my XW-P1 also goes through my PX-350. I use it as a mini PA I also use a TC Helicon mic mechanic and it makes me sound great ( I'm not the best singer in the World !)
  10. UK based but I believe they ship. http://www.swanflight.com/casio-px330-keyboard-flightcase.html Same size as a PX-350
  11. Hi Ted,Many thanks for those links. What I am trying to do is use garage band as an eight track recorder, but get it to record some of the sounds on the XW rather than use garage bands instruments. For example garage bands basses are very weak (IMO ) I guess the way to do this is to use an iRig as suggested by Scott ?
  12. Hi, Yes I am trying to use garage band as a sampler I guess ? Trying to get it to record the XW -P1 instrument sounds rather than its own ? Cheers Mark.
  13. Proud English non snob Casio owner here, PX-350 + a XW-P1 is my gigging set up. If Casio have withdrawn the XW synths from the UK market , then it's a crying shame and I guess the music snobs have won the day.
  14. The plot indeed thickens... I rang Casio UK instrument sales this morning ( on the pretence of trying to track down a p-1 ) the young lady told me that stock was indeed scarce but nonetheless gave me the contact for a couple of stores that had one or two available. She did say though, that stock was not being replaced by Casio, and this usually signalled a new model on the horizon, although they had not been told anything ? I then asked if I should wait for a new model rather than track down a XW-P1 ( those available are nearly double the pre Christmas price ) she again reiterated that they had not been told of a new model but stock would not be getting replaced. So ...If I were a gambling man ...And weighed up the form... 1: Major retailers clearing XW synths at rock bottom price pre Christmas 2: Stock really scarce 3: Stock confirmed by Casio as NOT getting replaced 4: Told it was a discontinued item ( by retailer ) I would have my money on a new product !
  15. Many years ago , painting contractors came to paint my towns coal fired power plant. They told the workers that the plant was being closed down , management denied this. However unrest followed and regional high management were then drafted in to quell workers concerns, they also categorically denied that the plant was closing . Six months later it closed was demolished and a housing estate built on it. Fact is the XW synths are no longer available in the UK, Gear4music ( one of Europes biggest online music retailers ) told me they were a discontinued item. Now this is either down to Casio withdrawing the product from the UK ( poor sales perhaps ? I can't somehow see that ?) Or maybe there is a new model on the horizon that even the (power plant regional high management ) know nothing about ? The plot thickens !
  16. Yeah thanks for that Scott. I was talking to a guitarist buddy and he says he uses an Apogee Jam , which is similar to an IRig. I have never had a go at doing my own backing tracks before, and have always gone the easy route of just buying a midi/mp3 track. Just thought I would try and do some using ipad garage band and the XW-P1 ?
  17. Hi Scott,At the moment I just have the lighting camera connection kit ?
  18. Is it possible to record instrument sounds from the XW-P1 straight into Ipad Garage band as a direct input ? I can't seem to find a way to do it, GB always reverts to one of its own instruments ?
  19. Hi Scottym, Unfortunately you just missed the huge UK sell off of the P1 and G1,s. All the big online stores such as Gear4music, Andertons, Guitar Guitar etc.. Were clearing them for £199 incl delivery ( I got my P1 from Gear4music ) as stated elsewhere on here, it would appear that both boards are a discontinued product in the UK , hence your difficulty in tracking one ?
  20. See that it's £6.99 ( UK) and will only anaylise music purchased from iTunes. There are other apps such as Chordec that will work out the chords on any song, the trouble with some digital music is the latency so can throw up lots of strange chord detections. There's nothing better than the human ear as far as I am concerned .
  21. The trouble with keyboard manuals is, they assume that the user already has a solid grasp of the basics of the product they have just purchased, for example Yamaha assume you have a degree in digital music science ! I think they should be written in a step by step format and assume that the owner is a complete noob. If you like, keyboards for dummies ? Great idea there Gary, perhaps the experts on here could co-operate and make a XW Synth for Dummies available on PDF download ?
  22. No one doubts for one minute that the XW series are not going to be discontinued, but it would appear that the XW-P1 model is .Perhaps a XW-P2 is in the offering ?
  23. Can any one recommend a good padded gig bag for the XW-P1 that's a good fit ?
  24. I purchased a gig bag for my XW -P1 from one of the biggest music retailers in Europe, which arrived today. However despite being a deluxe 61 key bag the Casio was a very tight fit in it. I telephoned the company to see if I could return it, but they could not try out a XW for size as they said it was a discontinued model and they didn't have any left in stock ? With the recent price plummet this certainly lends credence to a new XW being announced or released at NAMM ? And BTW they refunded the bag and let me keep it !! Now that is great customer service.
  25. Given the huge price drops on the XW synths here in the UK ( I got my XW P1 for £199 incl delivery)I strongly suspect we will see a new synth.
