I haven't tried yet-but today i am going to midi up the XW to my Privias-see how the XW tones respond to the piano-action keys-just an experiment to keep me out of trouble!  And yes-the light weight is fantastic-this is drop-dead easy to stack on another bigger board.  11.6 pounds-my Roland MC-505 weighs 11.1 pounds, without keys, amp and speakers! Nice solid steel construction but need a controller keyboard and a small monitor speaker system or phones to work with it. and the XW tones are definitely better in many ways-organs, pianos all the main "bread and butter" gig sounds are definitely better.

PA-er here too... moved to NJ last year, grew up in the Lehigh Valley LOL

Version 1.11 is the latest firmware for the XW-P1 and XW-G1.  The update process requires your computer.  The firmware and instructions are located here:
    http://support.casio.com/en/support/download.php?cid=008&pid=20

Here are some things to remember.

    • Do not interrupt the firmware update in any way.

    • Powering off the XW during the process will damage it permanently.  If you are worried about the power going out, putting batteries in your XW is a good precaution.

    • Disable any virus protection, this can interfere with the Updater

    • Do not run other applications on your computer while doing the update.

    • Launch the Update tool BEFORE and put your XW in Update mode BEFORE connecting the XW to the computer

    • If the update seems to stop during the process DO NOT power off the XW.   Please wait at least 10 minutes before doing the following
      • Do not touch the XW
      • Close the Updater application on your computer
      • Disconnect the USB cable
      • Restart the Updater Application.
      • Reconnect the XW keyboard to the computer
      • The Updater should resume.
    • When complete your XW will restart automatically

OMG... You guys are in DOVER?  LOL I just moved here last year... from PA.. Question if I may... Does Casio still sell the paper manual for the XW-P!?  I bought one used, and the seller doesn't have it.  Joey H

I'm glad to see this document is still being read. It means new people are discovering the XW-P1 even seven years after its release. There aren't many synths special enough to motivate me to write books about them. This one is. Btw, if you haven't found it already also check out the companion document, Volume 2.

Yes, I just bought one used to get my first intro to Synths... as a start.  At 55yo the learning curve is MAD... and I agree... the included manual is nothing more than a feature list LOL  Thanks for all your hard work, I can tell as I am a Secretary... at this late stage I am trying to get back to using my music training from University... and do some vocal, and dance arranging.  I can tell this was a labor of love!  Any tips or comments a newbie should know?  LOL
