This post piqued my interest, I Googled what Spike Jones used for his repertoire.
I have to say most electronic instruments do not have said comical sounds, most.
The concertina/hornpipe is an instrument that could be replicable with hexlayer
synthesis but requires expression peddle, I couldn't cause my pitch hearing isn't
that accurate. Let alone how to apply playing it on weighted key's. How to play it
would be like a deal-breaker cause what a good concertina to play like long and
staccato notes , ornaments and swells. would a switch button be needed? or
uninterrupted stage switching some sort.

Sounds awesome, wish I had the patience to use daws.

This one got me good , Was editing stages and stored a lot of changes.
Went through them one by one and noticed one of my creations disappeared
and strangely got replaced by the original patch on location 1.8 Quiver ,
Didn't think twice and stored everything with in an all file for good measure,
which I've should done before but this made me think did I hit a storage limit .

Did a few recordings this weekend on the PX5S I'm still amazed by this instrument.

I was playing with some sound in Hexlayer and got something nice out.
This makes me think if some assigned function could cross for other sounds so,
While playing and phrase recording hex layers there was something I was thinking
that is only there for drum kit , This is on all drum parts for keyboards
with an edit function to drum parts.
So this also known as non-polyphonic assigns note of mode and
and assign a group or which group the current keyboard should be
placed in.
It would be awesome to have this for Hexlayers in the near future as well
or if possible to implement this. As it's a versatile method to knock notes
off when they get assigned to a single key.

Does anyone know something or hint Casio-related its been awfully quiet, maybe a new soft synth or hardware (except for Behringer cz of course)
I'm dying to know.

Hmm, sounds like and interesting project. If I wasn't buried deep in trying to record some stuff right now, I'd give it a shot. Sounds like some harmony chords you would find in the Casio auto harmonize function on accompaniment keyboards.
A bit of a side note , I've programmed the 'Not In Love" patch in the CT-S1 it was hilarious and easy the aah sound kinda did it
not so much perfectly but it was clearly there, with the sustain function bit of volume for layer enabled and virtual sound expansion
played a whole afternoon with it.

I want to apply this process as hexlayer but i'm lost with the harmony , panning and trigger to duplicate that.

Wow but I imagine with a few additions of their own.

When you checked with a multimeter-did you find power is getting to other circuits? I usually just find a grounding point for a multimeter-easy to do, then touch my positive lead to various points everywhere-with power on, you should see anywhere from 1-3V DC to (I guess), 5V or 9-12V depending on where you are in the circuits. You can't do any harm as long as you are using your DC mode with the multimeter, and don't short anything else. And I have found, even the tiniest hairline crack or cold solder joint almost anywhere can stop a keyboard dead in its tracks. I have had to use high power magnifying tools to see this and have more than once found tiny cracks in solder I could not see without magnification. I don't know, my XW has been very reliable-inside looks like it would take something major to kill it.
Yes also that and appears power going from the main power board to the other ones that one was curious, it might be a crack also somewhere I could check that as well. But chances are that the firmware somehow got botched might as well. It's a curious synth board from everything I've encountered. This fires me up some more cause I want to play with the sample looper and solo synth , Guys I'm totally fired up now haha.

@ChasI've pulled it apart now lol , It's pretty much too keyboard heaven. I've cleaned the rubber switches, shorted two test solders for booting, measured the wires for the mainboard, checked capacitors, and talked sweet words to it, but still no go.

Does it power on at all? If it does, have you tried a factory reset?
Nah doesn't power up at all. Even put batteries in it too be sure.

Sad --sad--I have a P1 that I love but that sampler would have been some fun-- Can you say a bit more about the failure and pcb part-what function did it lose? condolences
Probably the main PCB for power, I'm clueless about how it stopped doing something, The power adapter is very sturdy and applies the DC.
Its like a fuse shorted but smd fuses are hard to spot. Unless another replacement is available it's a display item now.

My XW-G1 recently doesn't function anymore it's kind of sad cause it gave me many joys 😢
I had the chance to buy a used one but it was gone before I knew it and this keyboard
is hard to find for a long while now. Can't get it fixed anymore the PCB parts are discontinued.

I'm subscribed to Casio Gear and other sites, Was curious how the contest for the CT-S1000V ended,
Somehow I'm not getting any updates about events or they get drowned away, I've given up on some
platform as the change they are in doesn't reflect what my interest is.
Well I'm glad a link was provided with the Namm video and the winner of the CT-s1000v which was
well deserved I had the feeling she did it all on the keyboard, some of the other contestants where
pretty darn good though especially the one with animation.
I'm also glad Casio Japan finally chip in with what the new technology means for music creation explaining
this technology as well,
I was sure hoping for some glimmer of the high-end WK or Synth been quiet for almost five years.

here is a soulful electric piano with string pad. Does anyone have any ideas how to make something close to this: (of course I'm talking about the tone of the sound of the piano, not playing the notes.... hard for me as a beginner but I am working on it.)
also I am new to this..... I think "pad" means a layer, but I'm not sure. l guess it is a string layer.
If its there layer GPno Mellow with Elec piano 3 , However this what I got on my PX5S , Slightly edit release and upped the brightness Ep 3.

Which keyboard you've used, tell me 😲

I've returned two stage's on PX5S jamming it out with two versions inspired by my favorite band LCD-Soundsystem
This electronic genre , sounds better on headphones but I manage that it also sounds good on speakers, I had to edit
LCDelektroSinas for some clicks with audacity the rest straight out of the PX5S.

I had an OMG moment while playing with chatGPT , So chatGPT is an chat bot made by Open.ai
one of the many advanced a.i out there you can ask it anything really anything from coding to science
to poetry whatever can be think off. Is it accurate well somewhat its still in development but far ahead
for us commoners to make use of it, what only would have been for enterprise business.
I ask it how was queen solo riff for "I want to break free" made , It said a DX7 patch made by Freddy Mercury
layered several times and played in the studio.
Then I said how can i make it on the PX5S , It knows the PX5S guys and it wasn't connect for that information
directly from the internet. But it gave some action of approach to do it , I was like woaw .
Is this the future if chatGPT learn everything about midi implementation , tutorial and manual and synth setting
it can assist creating patches to nearly mimic any sound as well. Would that be awesome
Holy moly this is some futuristic stuff. There a new revolution working and its going at light speed.
Look how they can animate non existing material with stable diffusion an a.i that can creat art , make movies
with it let it seem so real one would believe what they see. If chatGPT learns sounds just by knowing how filters
oscillator and envelopes work with given waves Woow hold your horses music will change forever again.
Rasberry Pi's.
i've read that the other brand is using rasberry pi's to power theyr'e synth , This blows me away cause i thought
those things couldn't handle that. It shouldn't be a suprise seeing the changes in the chip world but still
these little electronic computers pack allot of horsepower to handle complex sounds , synthesize and segquencing ,
I'm glad with such advancement and wow as well how its going. And these synth are on the market already with
features build in that could only be done with lots of computer power.
The way it looks the coming decade will be chuck full of development for music again.

The latest casio SA review I saw was here on the forum from Chas ,
What to say that isn't already said about them but the more you
look into them , at least to me its becoming a cult thing, I mean
who is into these little keyboards unles starters or enthusiast who
seek little pleasures in them.
but the SA holds little suprises unoticed unless your into them like "Chas" does :=))
Casio released the SA 50 and 51 a while back this mean the 46 hits the road.
There allot going on in the newer SA which impress allot but hold your horses
The SA 46 a gem in its own right has several version each with unique sounds
I'm not going to write a lenghty post about both the new and old SA. It seems
there are two versions of the SA 46 a 2015 version and the latest both having a
few different sounds nside, Why is that so exciting well I love that there always
a history that follows the story behind a keyboard ask Cyberyogi , Chass or Jokeyman
I like reading about their knowhow and stuff.
Specially for interest reason I like to own one so now i'm seeking specifically for the
SA 46 2015 version, (P.S) i've found myself a CTK 900 ZPI sound engine and its interresting
sound library, there are sounds in there my other casio never heard off.
I have to admit I don't need it but looks darn fun how the SA 50 sounds might start a long
conversation if this still AL or Aix sound engine.
Here a review SA-46
Here a review SA-50 very exciting stuff.

Definitely a fully editable synth section (including mono mode) like the MZ-X500 had, and Hex Layers.
We need a CT-X with a fully editable synth, pitch and mod wheels, and hex layers. Also drawbar organ too.
Synth editable section similar to the PX/Hexlayer and a software editor like the XW.
But definitaly not CT= specific there are edit limitation with the CT its a more out of
the box and play the CT is nice portable good pro entry keyboard with good sounds now
but its nothing like the WK , MZ and PX deep editing and modulation capability. Those you want.

It would be handy if song mode had a direct zone select in its menu
A panel turning it on and off takes over whatever is on zone 1 2 3 and 4
that way you don't have to manually set midi channel or the tone
And because its a phrase sequencer it would be handy to have a button
to select from which zone to record from while zone 1 is standard channel
to do it from this way you don't have to back and forth much.

No, it is not. Who said that?? It is a new platform which includes a new action but it does not have many of the capabilities of a stage piano / MIDI controller of the PX-5S. That being said some of our artists that use the PX-5S have played the new instruments are wanting into incorporate them into both their studio and live rigs.
I've interpretted that wrongly and hastly from this
My bad guys accidently stirred things up 😅
Strange Irish ish tune

Maybe we could try using sampling and A.I to form a generative sound based on this specific instrument, It's a thing nowadays right LOL.
