  1. Thanks to this forum I've taken an extra liking to Casio keyboards and the contribution of the users and admin specially Mike Martin for lending us an ear and providing us with many tips help us to get  even more out these Casio products. I thank you all for the inspiration and liking as true musicians by heart. Not to sound dopey or sentimental sob but its how I feel about it :)

  2. (PS. Take my advice with a grain of salt and a dash of pepper. You have created and posted a lot of original work. Aside from a few lame sound files I, on the other hand, have so far created and posted Nada. Zilch. Zip.)

You've contributed allot such as in technical nature helping people solve things that also a form of contribution :)

  3. Sorry Scott, I removed the Grand Piano sample a while back.  I'll re-upload it later today.  I had planned on tweaking it some but never got around to it.

Ahah found that one wasn't sure of it but found a few youtube vids explaining how to do it, now i'm sure of it I can create lengthy samples with all the sample banks into a wicked performance patch.

  4. I've read the G1 manual pages referring to loading and playing user sample sounds and wanted to ask some questions to get final clarification:

    Examples:

    • Is it possible load a single Rhodes wave for instance and play it in full polyphony across the whole keyboard?
    • Or is the playback limited only to 1 tone per octave, such as for drums?

I'm afraid the manual only describes how to perform specific steps as it relates to loading data etc, but completely lacks any description of what these steps are supposed to accomplish and how they may apply to real life situations.

Typical example is the SPLT mode, it describes the steps in great detail, but purpose and usage are very unclear for a newbie, such as myself.

Multi sample sounds that what you want to do if I'm correct?, Well you can try but the G1 actually doesn't support that feature well, But you could try it with all the sample banks available but it will be a daunting time consuming task to arrange to map every banks sample to all the keys in performance mode.

However the G1 is the only synth in the XW range that support adding samples in an solo synth patch to go beyond the wave type set.

Splt mode is very ideal for creating new sample drum sets, The function nicely records each beginning and end of a sample successively until the end of sample space is reach great for those classic 808 , Dubstep or dance drums you want to add in your repertoire. As I said if you want to add multi-samples you would need all sample banks to create a correct sound scale for a Userwave set but you would be limited by sample rate and the max range of octaves to use that if low quality sample rate and length is not a problem to pan it out could give a nice vintage sound have not try it out yet seems to tedious might find a tool that can help to design custom Userwaves that said I would recommend a two octave bass sound only. I'll take a look into it myself idea's have sprung into the mind :).

  5. The german guy isn't playing in real time, when he start's and stop's the step sequencer he never hit's any button's to start or stop. and he does not have a foot pedal hooked up for step seq start stop. Most everything was probably prerecorded in advance to make the presentation better. I think all of it was done using xw-p1.It is very capable of doing everything I heard in the video and more.  From personal experience I have got better sound's and sequence's from my xw-p1 than this video demonstrate's.but then again, the whole thing could be a hoax, I suppose it could be possible.

I agree it must be key-syncing like AlenK said for the presentation and it surely has to be the XW-P1 sounds we hear ,

I understand what he is saying but I hardly believe him to be an amateur musician someone else did it for him while

he play-backed a bit off key his hand movements where to erratic for someone playing the keys for real.

Still a very interesting and amusing presentation XD.

  6.

    Hello:

^_^ I've been days without musical motivation. I ask for help:

What is missing to this song? Thank you. :)

PS: song created only with CASIO XW-P1.

This song is what synth music is about a good sonic vibe something that takes your attention listening if this is what motivated you then it must be it sound enough. Adding more could get worst but mostly if you leave it and let a few day's passed on it you suddenly find the inspiration for another nice fitting score or phrase. I've listened to this a few times it really pegs my imagination.

  7. When recording in sequencer-confused again! In drum tracks 8-12 sounds recorded using the track buttons 1-16 are preset to an individual sound-bass drum, etc. No problem. but when I step record from the keyboard for a track, what exactly is supposed to happen here? Shouldn't the drum track I'm recording record the key I'm hitting, like every other recorder I've used? It doesn't and I'm not clear why. Also-am having fun with the "quantize" or note value setting in the sequencer. Trying to get anything beyond straight eighth, sixteenth or 32nd notes seems to be really difficult-using triplet values seems to confuse the sequencer-since there are only 16 possible steps-how does the XW "interpolate" triplets or doesn't it. Should be able to access any function I need from the edit and mixer buttons providing I'm in sequence mode, but after working with it for a few hours, it still is baffling me. Maybe I've hit a limitation of the instrument? Or maybe back to the old kazoo/jaw's harp.   Helppppppp....

Can you let us hear how this sound like by making an mp3 file if you may.

  8. Ooh let me also in on this :) ... XW-A-PG  the alfa performance and groove synth with extreme dsp engine step and real time sequencing, extended sampling , three track audio recording/playing. Splits , double hexlayers , solo and solo+ edge bell timbres synth. Color would be green/yellow.

  9. I not only like my G1 I love it, Specially the sonic it can create. To be honest it can be intimidating on some of it features but once you master some bits of it capability its like oh wow I did not know that and that when you start to sculpture sounds and what not with it specially the bass its soOOOO LOw nice and GrooVy.

  10. Hello I like to give a call out for people who like me are no good at creating a Solo synth patch,

If you like me want to create a Solo but know how to make a nice performance patch please post it

on the forum let others enjoy your work until the time there when you create great solo patches.

    Best regards.

Please post these performance and share them with us.

  11. I've personally noticed the limitation that Lucabbrasi is talking about the DSP on the XW series.

I want to assign DSP to every channel each its own, While making the "Get ready" song wanted

it also in performance mode to happen  thus the limitation it could not.

I hoped also an firmware update could change all that. But as I read about Casio not doing

such things. I can circumvent these limitation by recording on an external device.

And create from every instrument an Performance patch like I already do which also work but

it leaves the XW a bit out.

Also some way that when you edited a patch it stores the parameter  likely as how you would

alter a tone by A.D.S.R with the knobs the synth stores these  setting. And if you want to reset it  its

    done just as easy.

Unless (came to my mind while I was typing)someone here on the forum uses an Ipad with cubasis on it

and tells the experience about it with the XW. (OMG)

  12. I'm lazy with recording stuff  and am not so good with the sequencer on the XW-G1. Its not that

difficult to sequence on the G1 but some stuff don't go that easily get to work with.

To be honest making a beat on the G1 is easy with a bass loop  and such the other stuff isn't

because recording is different on the G1 when you do chords.

I use my Boss micro Br for recording my music the Boss and G1 are hooked on an  MG02C mixer

it does the job but not as sweet and likable like the performance patches on the G1.

I'm recently taking courses playing the key's better I'm not a good pianist keep tempo and such a good ear

hears the mistakes in my recordings. You can hear it with "Get ready"  I went nuts on that using the dsp on

each drum part and recorded the organs over it for the complete sample loop. Then I recorded in one take

the whole sequence, once you hear what the G1 does your on a role. The second track I did three snares

to accompany a kind of vibe groove thing.I love to create music that is so different that you listen to it over

    and over and over again.

I have that with the G1 seriously I love all my synths, Have an Korg mw1 also sequencing on it is a breeze

I use some software synth to but when I record something I only use  "1"  synth and all of its capability's

alone. I do not use Cubase or Ableton as of yet.

What I want is to learn how to sequence better I've watched the vids about the step sequencer they are

O.k but not to sound like a nag I need to do it better meaning. When I record  a drumbeat can it with different

dsp effects , When I change an instrument like the bass will all the edited parameters be in the sequence.

Does the equalizing apply to all parts of instrument sequencing.

    TWO SONGS.

I've added two of my recording which I made today 22-9-2013, its all G1  again sampled a drumloop on the looper

(love it)using performance patches and recorded all the other in one live take on the Boss micro br.  You can find

them on the share your music section.

The first song called "Natures Colors" I wanted to visualize a flower that opens up in the morning the sky turn

from night to day and back again the wind that blows the sea that waves everything nature.

Used for that song a few perfomance mode patches like Pop Lead, Groovekit ,Space ,Summer chill. tweaked it

with the magic of the four assignable knobs love those. Everything comes from that except the drums patterns

I used the looper for that..

The next song called "Stepping shoe's" same drumpattern on looper as with "Nature Colors" added

VA synth for bass line, performance patch Reggae Mix and CityBrass my own creation :) which you can find on

the forum ,Again tweaked with the knobs. I've used the DSP a bit to much as well on the mixer side as the on the

    instrument patches.

  13. How about us Android freeks? I have tablets, smartphones, even an android spaghetti collander hat with the antenna for picking up SETI (only kidding on the last one but one never knows, do one?)

Android does not support MIDI sadly plus there are performance issue with cheap android devices. Only 100% certified android devices run smoothly but with no midi support its quiet useless for music making.

  14. Pierre Schaeffer reminds me of the work of some Danish and Swedish sound artist way back in the eighties I remember it aired on Tuesday's forgot the names and material lost the cassette's with the recording  where I recorded it on but like Pierre it sounded other worldly such vibrancy depth and atmosphere. Stuff they did with violins was strange and synth like. Music like that I wish could here it again the only thing I remembered was a Swedish danish like name sound like Aoken.
