  1. Very cool to be able to write sci-fi film scripts, Cyberyogi. I often think that the technology of nearly every sci-fi film that I have ever seen has now come true!! It both shocks and amazes me. Two of the very few things left are a star trek type transporter and (needless to say) time travel...

  3. Hi Cyberyogi. It sounds like you are going through a really difficult time. I am so very sorry to hear this. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to deal with worsening eyesight and health problems. Kudos to you for feeling able to share your feelings with us - that takes real courage. Please know that we are here with you, willing you to find the strength you need to keep going. Sometimes when things get too much, the one thing which can help to lighten the load is to share it with someone else. Just in case you have never heard of them, the Samaritans are available 24/7 to talk to anyone in distress - whether they feel suicidal or not. Their time is willingly and freely given and they can be contacted by phone, live chat or email. They can be found here: https://www.samaritans.org/

It is a UK service, but freely available to everyone who contacts them.

Please let us know how thibgs are going and how you are feeling and if there is anything we can do to help. You are not alone. xx

  4. A completely wild guess here.....but could the pedal be involved?  Do you ever use the pedal to turn zones on and off on the stage settings which go wrong?

The reason I ask is that a few times I have had a situation where I have programmed a sound to be ON. but able to be turned off with the pedal; only to find that when I called it up it was actually OFF. Furthermore, on these few occasions, sometimes once that has happened then one press of the pedal is not enough to turn it on. Sometimes it has taken TWO.

  5. Hello. I have been asked to recommend a keyboard for one of my piano students. It really needs to be as cheap as possible. Please could you recommend which one(s) To get.

They may need to get a second hand one. Am I correct in thinking that any PX keyboard, no matter how old, would be suitable? (ie weighted keys, pedal, reasonable touch....) Thank you.

  6. Hi Horse. I find those two keyboards make an excellent combination. I mostly use the Vr09 for organs - which it does really well, and the PX for pretty well everything else. I am using them in a ska band and a function band. I have not used the PX as a  controller for the roland - if that is what you mean. My grip on technology is a bit tenuous ATM so I tend to keep everything simple. Besides, I want the unweighted keys for my organ playing. I am sure you will be delighted with this combintiaon.

BTW - I  got my stand from Thomann. Good luck in your search.

  7. I have the same keyboards as you! :-) I have a K&M 18880 & 18882. it is a great stand, lightweight & portable and no X frame to get in the way of your pedals. (It should particularly suit you as it is a very stable stand....... ;-) ) However, as you do not need something light & portable you may find something else which is cheaper.

Whatever you do, do NOT get the Proel SPL152 .....It is unbelievably bad & annoying...... :-(

  8. Ah Brad - you are beginning to see the light! :) Size definitely matters with iPads - so get as much memory as you can. Second hand should be fine as long as it works ok. They seem to not go wrong in my experience (and if anyone can make things go wrong, it is me - as you know.....), so perhaps the warranty is less important than for other electrical things. I have an old iPad 1 with a cracked screen which is still great. The cracked screen is fine too - you don't notice it when the iPad is turned on. You might get a big discount on one which is a bit battered. My old one can no longer take any of the new apps, but it still does what it does very well. Obviously the newer your iPad is, the more you will be able to do with it, but I can still use old versions of midi designer and set list maker on my old iPad, for instance.

  9. Ah Pax....... Amazing that no one has asked this before. Is chocolate better than pizza? In my opinion, Facebook is MUCH better. It is more interesting, sociable, colourful, full of pictures & sounds & videos as well as words. Replies to questions generally come very quickly, and make me laugh far more than I do here. Why not give it a try? You can still come here and you can always leave if you don't like it. :)

  10. File Name: Anne's stage settings organiser

    File Submitter: Knuckles

    File Submitted: 28 May 2014

    File Category: PX-5S Other

This is a stage settings organiser which I made to keep track of my stage settings. It consists of a series of tables set out exactly as the stage settings are laid out on the PX-5s. There is one with the factory stage settings, one with the factory settings in the alternative order, and several blank ones for you to keep a record of your own registration sets.

It fits perfectly onto an ipad.

I refer to mine all the time and could not manage without it.

I have two copies of it available: one in NUMBERS format for the ipad, and the other in EXCEL for windows.

The Excel version is the second file (19.48 kb).... and the numbers version is the first (211.73 kb). Both files are ZIPPED so you will need to unzip them before using them. (Let me know if you are not sure about how to unzip a file and I will help you - either here or in the Facebook group). :)
I hope it may be of use to you. :)

  11. Hi Jweisbin. The problem may be the name of the folder. it must be MUSICDAT (not musicdata). You can also format your USB stick in the PX-5S, in which case it will create the folder for you. This might be a good idea, but make sure all your files are safely copied to your computer first, as it will clear the USB stick.

You can delete things from the left hand list by simply dragging them into the rubbish bin icon at the top right hand side of the page.

    I hope that helps a little. :)

  12. I have a suggestion, which I make it from the comfort of my position of total ignorance of all things computer, so it may not be even remotely possible......

However, I have never been one to allow practicality to get in the way of imagination..., so.... What would be extremely useful would be if certain settings / parameters could be linked to a single registration set. It occurs to me that as the USB drive has to be physically installed and the "all load" routine gone through each time a registration set changes, it might be possible in so doing for the PX to also check and adjust certain registrations specific settings.

Things like: pedal settings. In some situations it is incredibly useful to scroll though the SS's with pedal 2, but not in others. This feature being global is a problem for me (means I will have to manually adjust it when installing every new registration set from now on). There may well be other global settings which would also benefit from being slightly less global - and once the feature was implemented they could also be included. Of course, this all depends on whether it is possible to do this at all ......

  13. I think I should mention that I have discovered that my editor problems are nothing to do with v 1.12. They are a actually a result of me not understanding the necessity of resetting the editor (and how to do it...)

It turn out that if you are editing a tone and then abandon your edits without saving the SS you are creating the possibility for problems. If you then go to the transfer page and write over that same SS, you will then be unable to access the new one on the parameter edit page. Various other problems, domino like, can also follow.

My problems in this area coincided exactly with v 1.12 - hence my incorrect assumption - probably because it was only after this version had fixed the original bug (which limited me to using one registration set only) that I was able to use multiple sets and began doing lots more editing and movement of SS's as described above.

All is good now! :-)

  14. Hi lydays,

Just a thought, but it might be worth checking what exactly you are doing once you get to the "load page". This should be the page which has a list saying: SMF play, Load, Save... If, upon reaching that page, you press "enter" you will indeed get the "no file" message.

What you must do is press the DOWN ARROW (stage setting #6 button) once so that the large dot sits beside LOAD and Then press ENTER.....

I apologise if you have already done this correctly, but I am especially familiar with just how easy it is to miss a simple but crucial step when dealing with computers so thought it was worth mentioning......... Best wishes. :-)

  15. I would like to suggest that there should be an indicator in the display screen to say if the PX is running on batteries. I tried using them yesterday (such a brilliant feature! :-) ) and decided to leave them in. What worries me is that In the event of the power supply not being properly connected - ie. if the cable gets pulled or (heaven forbid) if I forget to connect it at all!! I might not realise and then my batteries might quietly go flat and leave me high and dry in a real emergency....
