  1. I apologize if this has been asked before. I'm trying to record keyboard play to USB flash memory using the auto accompaniment. I can record normal play, but when I try to record to the flash I'm unable to do it. Thanks in advance, Sergio
  2. I've noticed that while playing my Privia PX-780M using a preset registration setting, the setting changes occasionally at random, and I have to recall my preset. I'm not an expert pianist by any means, and at first I thought that I accidentally may have pressed a button to change the setting, but it seems to happen at random. Has anyone else experienced this issue, and is there a way to prevent it? Thanks in advance for any thoughts, Sergio
  3. Scott, THANKS!!! Once again you've helped me. No, I wasn't using the USB port in the back (which I guess is for the pedals), but I was using the same port I use for the stick memory. After looking at the manual more carefully, I realized that there was ANOTHER USB port next to it. What threw me was that the shape of the second USB port was different from what I was familiar with (I thought that they were all rectangular and flat). I should have used that second USB port, The laptop recognized the DP right away, installed the CASIO driver, and I was able to interface with Synthesia, the one software program I installed to test all of this out. My explorations continue, and thanks again! Sergio
  4. I can't get my PX780 to connect to my ASUS ultrabook (UX21E - purchased Oct 2011). My operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium. I followed the Casio instructions carefully, but the laptop does not recognize the DP. I'm using a USB to USB cable; I have not tried the MIDI outputs from the DP (would need to purchase the cable). Does anyone know what may be wrong? Thanks, Sergio
  5. I'm so glad that this forum exists and that there are helpful and knowledgeable people participating. I really love the piano, and I'm trying to get back to it after several years of nothing. I play (somewhat) by ear, but I'm trying to learn all about chords, etc., and I think that I'll get a lot of use out of the unit. Thanks again! Sergio
  6. Thanks, Scott. I think you're right, and I haven't yet explored fully the "song recorder" function. I do have a couple of songs recorded there, but I haven't tried to save them to a USB memory stick. I did notice that when I viewed the memory stick on my PC, the "A" through "D" folders, along with all others except "Audio" were empty. That's where the "song recorder" songs must be saved eventually. I haven't tried that yet because I haven't done much with the "keyboard" (rhythms, etc.) features of the unit. Too bad the PX780 doesn't allow you to rename the WAV files anyway... Sergio
  7. Thanks again, Brad. Perhaps I did something wrong, but I followed the manual's instructions carefully, and the fact that I actually VERIFIED on my PC that the files had been renamed in the memory stick suggests the process worked. I'm still puzzled as to why the unit does not recognize the renamed files. Perhaps someone else has encountered this issue before. It's not a big deal, but I'm just learning how to use the instrument. Sergio
  8. Thanks, Brad, for responding. Then my next question is WHY include instructions in the manual for "renaming" the files if following the instructions make them invisible to the unit? Wow! Sergio
  9. Another "newbie" question... I renamed a couple of songs that were recorded as "TAKEXX" in the USB memory using the "function" - "audio recorder" etc. instructions in the manual. I got the indication that the new names were recorded fine, but when I try to access them on my PX780, only the remaining songs with the names "TAKEXX" are offered. In my PC I can access the USB stick and ALL the songs are there, including the newly renamed ones. Any thoughts as to why the renamed songs are not recognized by the PX780? Thanks, Sergio
  10. Thanks so much, Scott. This time I converted the MP3 with Audacity, and the PX780 the file played with no problems. I'm still trying to learn the various features of this unit... So much to learn!!! Thanks again, Sergio
  11. I just bought a PX780, but I'm a real newbie and am struggling with learning how to use it. The manual leaves a lot to be desired. I apologize for my ignorance, but are there rules that must be followed to copy a WAV file onto a USB memory so that I can play it on my piano? I know that the files must be labeled "TAKEXX" and stored on the AUDIO folder, but are there restrictions on what kind of file the piano will play? For example, I converted an MP3 piano recording to WAV format, but my PX780 will not play it, and the display shows "Err - Wrong Data". The original MP3 was a song from a piano CD which I converted to WAV using an audio converter utility (the WAV file plays fine on my PC). Thanks in advance, Sergio
