  1. A1. Because those Stage Settings contains tones that were adjusted slightly specifically for that Stage Setting. Yes it is like a temporary holder because the tone is saved with the Stage Setting itself not saved separately. A2. When you go to the load menu press the +/YES button the top right of the keyboard to scroll through the different files on your USB drive. A3. Each of the 4 zones can have their own arpeggiator. The "On the Run" Stage Setting has the main part on Z1 one. The arpeggiator is triggering Zone 1 for the pattern. However the sound you're hearing on Zone 1 has many layers and components to it. Zone 2 in that sound has the helicopter and the drone. Zones 3 and 4 are not used in that Stage Setting and you can turn the arpeggiator off for those zones.
  2. I need to clarify this. The PX-5S does some things that are unique. Stage Settings can contain tones that are UNIQUE to other stored tones in the PX-5S. For example if start with 0-0 ConcertGrand and you make a change the tone (Filter, effects...etc) and you save the Stage Setting...the edited tone is stored WITHIN the Stage Setting. You don't have to separately save the tone. This saves time and is much more convenient. The ! next to a tone name indicates that the TONE within the Stage Setting is DIFFERENT than one that is saved elsewhere. It is however stored within the Stage Setting.
  3. Chopping, the PX-5S contains both Stage Settings and Tones (including HexLayer tones). If you've created any custom sounds yourself you need to save these to the USB drive or use the Transfer tool in the Data editor to save these to the computer. If you have not made any changes to them yourself and only utilized the Stage Settings that are available from the forum then you don't need to backup anything.
  4. Knuckles, can you tell me how you "Reinstalled the Concert Grand" Stage Setting?
  5. These exist here - http://www.casiomusicforums.com/index.php?/files/file/1-px-5s-v110-stage-settings/ However if you do an Initialize all, that is not needed.
  6. Ok Knuckles, I've sent a report of this off to Japan. In the meantime both of you (Choppin and Knuckles) send me a Private message in this forum. Please include: 1. Serial Number 2. Dealer where you purchased the PX-5S 3. Your contact info (email, phone, address) I'll see what I can do.
  7. Guys, I'd like you to both save all of your Stage Settings and Tones individually (using the Transfer tool on the Editor is fastest) and do the following. Reload v1.11After the firmware is reinstalled do an Initialize AllA complete guess from my part but I suspect that somewhere there is a flash memory error. By doing this you should clear out any problem issues and be back to normal.

Another Rhodes sound for the PX-5S. Audio demo coming soon. Stage Setting (ZPF) and a HexLayer (ZLT) are located here so you can easily import the tone into another Stage Setting. Controls: Slider 1-3 Phaser Slider 4-6: Chorus / Delay / Reverb Knobs 1-4: EQ

  10. Thanks for the report, I'll see what I can find out.
  11. Dual targets yes but cross fading can only be down within Hex Layers. So you can set target one to Layer 1 volume and target to to layer 2 but the reverse the min/max values in one as you suggest.
  12. Sorry but I couldn't disagree more. Assuming you have v1.10 installed, start with Stage Setting 7-7 and listen to the quality of the filters, utilize every knob and slider. Starting from such a simple sound you can make so much from this. If that isn't enough then get into the downloads. Find another synth that can pull off something like this LIVE. Do listen to the audio demo that is linked. http://www.casiomusicforums.com/index.php?/files/file/165-orbiting/ Check out the review at Harmony Central. They think we made a mistake calling it Privia because the synth side is so strong: http://www.harmonycentral.com/t5/Expert-Reviews/Casio-PX-5S/ba-p/35927051
  13. They've been aware of this issue for over a year. We've sent them product to test and correct this issue. Unfortunately while most software companies have updated their software to adhere to the current MIDI specification it seems that Finale has chosen to ignore it. I'll call my contact at Finale and see if I can stir the pot.
  14. Alen, The App can store Presets which consist of every knob position. When you select a preset it sends all that data to the XW. So you can start with a preset and work from there.
  15. Sorry guys this is very unusual. If it occurs again, please let me know and please document any steps which duplicate the situation. I'll put the follow option on this thread.
  16. MIDI Designer does support Sysex in addition to standard CCs and NRPNs. Again lots of flexibility here but this app will be focused specifically on the Solo Synth aspect of the XWs.
  17. The App is not requesting existing parameter info from the XW. I don't believe this is possible..even in the Pro version. So when you dial up a sound on the XW the interface on the iPad does not necessarily reflect the parameters of that sound. The final step of this process is that I'm building a couple presets within the App that when selected will send ALL of the parameters to the XW so these will give you starting points to work with if you need to. Yes the app can send data based a condition of incoming data. The app has ways of dealing with Controls and SubControls that can react to each other in different ways with different curves...etc. This is where the overwhelming flexibility of MIDI Designer blows my mind. The MIDI Designer team is very response to questions about their app, which influenced my decision to go down this road with them vs some of the other platforms. You could certainly ask them directly on their website.
  18. Alen, The "Total Amp" section does not exist in the XW-P1 directly although the XW-G1 does allow for this control from the front panel. The XW series has independent AMP envelopes for each oscillator and while this is very desirable it is also very complicated. The XW-P1 allows you to control Attack or Release (1) times for all six Oscillators from knobs but you can not control any other part of the envelope. The XW-G1's front panel does allow you to choose to use the sliders to edit the AMP envelope for any individual oscillator or all of them at once. The tools provided by MIDI Designer allowed me to set up controls that manipulate all 6 oscillators of the XW simultaneously. They call it a "SuperControl". Everything this app does for the XW is super if you ask me.
  19. Just an update. The app is in its final beta stage. We're just finalizing a few appearance items, settings defaults for knobs and sliders and some final testing. I think it will be off to the app store store in a few days. As I said previously, the app completely changes the XW's Solo Synth for me. The layout provides some performance and editing capabilities that are really amazing. The team that created MIDI Designer has been working closely with us really make the most of it. Currently no. The App focuses strictly on the Solo Synth and its parameters. Technically the EQ falls under the Performance mode. I'll look into it though. I'll attach some screen shots asap.
  20. Do you have the G1 in update mode? Try this. Disconnect the USB Cable from the XW-G1 Put the XW-G1 in Update mode. Start the Updater application on either your Mac or Windows Computer Wait, then Connect the XW-G1 via USB. Then WAIT about 60 seconds. The updater should start.
  21. On a piano Stage Setting such as 0-0 Concert Grand, try adjusting the "Hammer Response" parameter. To do this, press the EDIT button, Select Stage Setting Scroll down and choose Common Edit (its on the second page) Scroll down to the second page and change Hammer Response to 0. The Hammer Response parameter simulates the time it takes hammers to swing in an acoustic piano. This parameter is only enabled in the Piano Stage Settings like 0-0, 1-0, 2-0...etc.
  22. The Stage Setting determines the function of the modulation wheel. Start with Stage Setting 0-6 or 1-6. Also not all of the preset organ tones have the rotary speaker effect assigned, but we did make those available for download: http://www.casiomusicforums.com/index.php?/files/file/102-px-5s-organ-tones/
  23. AronvS, Sorry about that but there is an easy fix. Download the v1.11 update from here: http://support.casio.com/en/support/download.php?cid=008&pid=20 Put the file on USB drive. Turn off your PX-5S and turn it back on. It should automatically install the update.
