Modeled after the famous introduction song by Vangelis in the movie Blade Runner, this is a 2 zone Stage Setting with a synth string and CS-80 style lead. Washed in reverb (as it should be). Pedal 2 will hold the filter open. Similar to this version original done for the XW-P1

A set of 5 short and crisp percussive sounds that are little different than what the G1 has built-in. Enjoy

  6. That is a tough one. I am not aware of a work around nor any hardware or software product that does what you're asking. Some Casio (arranger) products have a "Harmony mode". You can choose a style and based on the chord changes you're playing with your left hand, single notes in your right note are translated into a 3 or 4 part harmony. It is pretty convincing but still does not separate parts for different instruments.
  7. 1. No the PX-5S can not do an oscillator sync. There are ways to approximate it but this is one thing this digital piano / synth can not do.
  8. I should have mentioned that by default, this NRPN parameter is off.
  9. In the System Settings under MIDI there is a way to enable Phrases from NRPN. On pages 25/26 of the MIDI implementation manual it refers to using this to select and start/stop phrases. At first glance I don't understand it entirely but I'll look into it asap.
  10. I'll have to look into this. I'm away from my XW the next two days, traveling for work.

A variation on the other Brass Falls patch. This one triggers the "fall" with velocity. Play hard and you'll get the fall sound. Pedal 1 now does a volume swell.

A Stage Setting in which Pedal 1 switches between two layers in a brass sound. When the pedal 1 is pressed you're turning on the layer with the pitch envelope for the "fall" effect. Pedal 2 is controlling layer volume and the rate parameter is used so you can use it for brass swells.

In the blog entry last week I explained how drum sounds in the PX-5S could be edited to the extreme. Pitch envelopes and resonant filters are available for each drum instrument across the keyboard. Here is a new drum kit that takes advantage of these techniques. Watch your speaker levels, there are some DEEP drums here. The story here: http://priviapro.wordpress.com/2013/08/15/px-5s-drum-editing/

  18. How do I use the XW's Step Sequencer with other MIDI devices such as my computer. The Performance controls MIDI assignments for all of the parts. Press Performance, scroll down and choose MIDI edit. There is some real power here. Each Part can be Internal (Gen Out: ON) and if that track is controlling external MIDI gear. There is a MIDI and USB track for each part. This means you can independently control USB MIDI devices (such as an iPad) along with other MIDI devices on the regular MIDI out.If you want to Synchronize the XW to another MIDI device or sequencer, press the Setting button then scroll down and change your Sync mode. Do this BEFORE starting a computer application such as Cakewalk or Cubase because you have to reboot the XW after making this change.

  20. Edit your PERFORMANCE. Scroll down to MIDI Edit, press enter. Use the Part +/- buttons and select tracks 8-16 turn MIDI (or USB) ON.
  21. It is the Sequencer that saves the Mixer settings for anything on MIDI channels 5-16. By default your Performance is only going to control MIDI channels 1-4.
  22. How do I use the Solo Synth in the Step Sequencer? While in Step Sequence mode, press the MENU button. Choose Setting and press enter. Here you will now see Solo 1 CH is selected as 14 - Change this to 1. This tells the step sequencer to use channel 1 instead of 14 for the Solo 1 part of the sequence. Now in performance mode choose which tone you want to have on channel 1 (Zone 1) which can be a solo synth tone, and also set what controllers you want for the knobs, which will now control the Solo 1 part in the step sequence.
  23. What Pedals work with the XW-seriesCasio SP-20 Casio SP-3R Pedals from Kurzweil and Korg also work as well as the switchable M-Audio, Roland and Yamaha will not. Can I used the Solo Synth and Hex Layers, or Drawbar organs at the same timeNo, only one of them can be used at a time on Zone 1.
  24. BTW: What were you searching for so I can make it the first item?
