Do you have the latest version of the Data Editor? Put the files in the Data folder for the Editor (Usually in My Documents/Casio/EMI/DataEditorG1) then drag them over to you G1 using the transfer function of the editor.

Converting .wav files to XW-G1 Samples

Can you explain what other gear you have and how you're using it? Sorry just trying to get my head wrapped around your application so I can best explain your particular situation to the staff in Tokyo.

I really like this forum
Mike Martin replied to Patrick Arend's topic in General XW Series Discussion
Patrick, Thanks for joining in. The forum had some growing pains when it first got started but now the community is really starting to grown and people are participating and helping each other out. I can't possibly answer all the questions about all our products on every forum but the involvement level from users helping users has really increased lately. -
Yes. You still need the CCK.

AlenK, I'll have to download the manual to see if I can translate better. It is possible to have a regular tone (Not a Solo or Hex) utilize DSP. If DSP is in use, the chorus is unavailable. So there is only ONE insert effect available and basically it can only be used by the tone on Zone 1 regardless of what type of tone it is.

The PX-5S has a dedicated USB MIDI port, you're not using it?

Prog Rock on a WK-7500 and XW-P1

Great, thanks for sharing. -
And welcome to the forum!

ddenstaedt, That is not possible. You have to type them in.

Doug, I believe it remembers the LAST tone you had selected in that category, however you should really be using Stage Settings and configuring your "go to" sounds in this area.

This is correct. The real advantage of the XW-G1 is being able to LOAD samples. In the clinic the other night I used some kicks and other sounds that are now posted here for download. The architecture of the XW-G1 also allows you to use any sampled sounds in drum kits and also within the Solo Synth which opens up some interesting possibilities. As for the audio input on the back, the 10 bit spec is correct. It isn't an issue of the physical jack on the back or the A/D converter on that jack. It is an issue of the LSI that drives the XW series.

Rotary Speaker "Brake" Parameter?
Mike Martin replied to AlenK's topic in General XW Series Discussion
You can assign the sustain pedal to do it, instead of sustain. -
LOL, the thumbnail image that Youtube chose is great.

Doesn't everyone try to make a fart sound with a synthesizer? I'm going to make a good one and upload it. The video is up on Youtube already: Thanks for the kind words guys.

Right now in the downloads section all of the "Solo Synth" sounds are grouped together. Using the editor the can be loaded into either XW-P1 or XW-G1. That being said, I'll be making P1 and G1 specific versions of those Solo Synth sounds. With the G1 versions in particular, I have to make some adjustments to the knob settings. So in the future we'll have these sounds each on their specific product section (P1 or G1).

Update coming for this in a moment. I made this sound on the XW-P1 but on the G1 the controllers need to be mapped separately.

Thanks Joe! The one challenge we have with the XW is sharing Performances. A Performance on the XW references the locations of all the tones and other required items (Step Sequence, Arpeggio, Phrase...etc). So in order to share a Performance, each of those items also have to be saved. For you to get them to work on your XW requires that each component is loaded into a specific location otherwise the Performance won't work. So in order to share: The Performance must be clearly documented, showing the location of each item. Obviously this is quite time consuming. If there is any mistake in the loading process (or you are already using that specific user location) you'll have to manually edit the Performance and re-save it. That requires YOU the user to be able to dig under the hood and make these changes. Note that what we learned from this problem made it better on the PX-5S. A Performance (called a Stage Setting) contains everything including the custom tones. That is why it has been easier to share some of the multi-zone sounds.

I'll check into this...

I don't have a CD out...yet. My free time all goes to making sounds for you guys to download. I was working on a CD when but this job got me side tracked. There are a couple pieces here: https://soundcloud.com/Michael-Martin

It is not a flaw. Parts 5-16 would typically be driven from another device such as a computer in your studio. Almost any basic DAW can choose which channels to address, along with volume, pan, band and program change. What MIDI devices are you using the PX-5S with?
-
AlenK, I'll do my best to check into those before the clinic tomorrow. I'll admit I don't know all the answers. Some things like the audio/smf playback I've never used. #4 - Stored with the Step Sequence.

Just added one more.
