  1. I don't have a Kronos so I can't say for certain. Some keyboards such as Kurzweil can specify if incoming MIDI is playing the whole Combi or just one part. I suspect this is the issue but I can't tell you where to change it on the Kronos.
  2. I'm really excited about this. Even for those of you without iPads there will be a benefit. The ease and speed that we can create new and interesting sounds from the XW's Solo Synth is remarkable. We will get some video of this at Summer NAMM next week.
  3. So I hinted at this a little while ago, it is a little closer to being real. I'm still going to be vague for a little about it because we're still working with the app developer but this completely changes the XW's Solo Synth in my opinion. The types of sounds you can get in just moments and in real-time is quite remarkable, so this is both a performance and editing tool for the Solo Synth. It also gives the XW-P1 the ability to manipulate the the Solo Synth the way the XW-G1 does and more. It works identically on the XW-G1. More details asap.
  4. AlenK, The PX-5S has 4 Insert Effects one for each zone. It is a completely different effects engine than the XW. The XW-series is limited as you know for DSP power. The PX-5S has Reverb, Chorus and Delay as system effects plus the Insert Effects which each zone can choose to use. Sonically there is nothing similar between an XW and PX-5S.
  5. JefSong, Welcome to the forum. You can control the PX-5S sounds from another keyboard. Generally speaking Zones 1-4 are controlled by the PX-5S Stage Setting but that also leaves channels 5-16 open for control from another device. As for the piano sound. There are many audio examples online including these which take advantage of some of the insert EQ: https://soundcloud.com/voxpops
  6. There are reverse saw and ramp waveforms in the XW-P1 to give you this kind of variety.
  7. I'm sorry to say that next Tuesday will not be possible. The mixer, microphone and other equipment that I used to do the previous clinic will all be unavailable. All of our gear is being packed up for the Summer NAMM show. If I can come up with an alternate solution, I'll let everyone know here on Monday. Otherwise it will be delayed until we get back. More info soon.
  8. I have a PC3 (purchased before I started at Casio :-) ) The setup you describe can easily be done.
  9. Not a dum dum question. Let me check into it.
  10. David, The XW-series does not support a volume pedal without the use of something like this: http://www.midisolutions.com/prodped.htm
  11. All waveforms have a preset envelope. When you make changes to the envelope you're creating an offset from the original. Depending on how the original waveform envelope was programmed there are limits to how far you can adjust it.
  12. Sure its possible. You can sync them up via MIDI clock.
  13. A Chain allows you to put a series of sequence patterns in a particular order. So rather than changing sequences LIVE on the fly, you can pre-determine the order of the sequences and their transposition.
  14. Set List Maker: http://www.arlomedia.com/apps/setlistmaker/main/home.html
  15. Out of total curiosity can you let me know if you're using an iPad
  16. Everything you're suggesting can take place on either product. I'm leaning more towards the XW-G1 at the moment. Tentatively I'm looking at doing this June 2 around 7:00pm EST.
  17. Yes usually things like the pianos and EPs have multiple variants, these are generally for velocity switches. Some "Tones" are combinations of waveforms so Pipe Organ A and Pipe Organ B may have been created originally to be used together. Some of these samples were originally created for products that didn't have realtime filters of any kind so you'll even find variants that have a different tonal character.
  18. Clarification, the LPF is 24dB. I'm not sure about the others.
  19. 639 downloads

These two Stage Settings include the incredible clav sounds on from the PX-5S, this time featured without the wah-wah effect. The Amp selector is still in place on slider 2 and speaker tone on slider 3 and of course distortion on slider 1 giving you incredible number of variations possible with just a few simple tweaks.
  20. 607 downloads

A Stage Setting Template with 4 active zones. Sliders 1-4 control the volume of each zone.
  21. Within the next two weeks. Maybe July 2nd. I started a thread in the XW section.
