  2. Sorry there isn't a music stand. The blue bar is just a decoration. ;-)
  3. 1. No rules. Split, layer, overlap and velocity switching zones. 2. They are both foot switch inputs. They can be assigned to any controller you want. The even added envelopes to the pedals so you can use foot switch 2 for a filter sweep or swell. 3. Yes. There is a new rotary speaker effect too.
  4. Each of the hex layers gets its own effects. Finally. To clarify a Hex Layer gets an insert effect. Each Zone has the flexibility to use the insert or any combination of the system effects. So Layer 1 in a Hex Layer can get a Distortion (insert), while Layer 2 gets a 30% reverb mix, while Layer 3 gets Delay and Layer 4 has chorus. Layer 5 has a combination of Reverb and Delay.... I think you can get the idea. Mike hints at the very end that there could be more to the USB than just USB and MIDI signals - looks like Casio are looking into bringing a full blown audio interface to the USB port? Assuming it will be 44.1 KHz sampling rate I guess I'll have to watch the video to see what you're talking about. I may have stumbled on a answer. No, there won't be an audio interface added to the USB (MIDI) port. You can record AUDIO to the USB storage port. 4 arpeggiators? That is crazy! and if they are polyphonic? Then, that's nuts.Yes, it is NUTS! What I'm most excited about is ...... ...Mike mentions in the vid that they are working on a tone library. If they are talking "Nord style" sound library, then this could be huge!!! Nord has thousands of sounds and you can pretty much download anything you want and set up your sound patches on your keyboard just the way you like them. It is a very clever marketing strategy because it helps to retain your customers who stick with the same brand, even if they get a new board - because of the sounds.Yes, we will be doing this. We met with developers at NAMM and we will be moving forward with this. To clarify, the PX-5S does not allow you to add new samples. However we can dramatically change the sounds of this product. The engine and it's effects are DEEP.
  5. Hey guys, Sorry for the long break away from the forum but I've been a bit busy. Just read through some of the comments. To clarify some misconception, this product is NOT simply an XW added to a Privia. Hex Layers on the PX-5S are only similar in name to the XW series. It is a completely different beast. As a quick example, here are a quick list of things that the PX-5S has that the XW does not in Hex Layer: - Independent selectable filters for each layer, completely with 7 stage filter envelopes. - Pitch Envelopes - Choices of Insert of System Effects per Layer - Key-Off Samples - 7 Stage amplitude envelope - REAL-TIME Filters! Sonically it does not resemble the XW at all, it is completely different. ....and that's just talking about one of the things the PX-5S does and I'm probably not mentioning all of the differences. Even the acoustic piano side is not just like a PX-350. The amount you can adjust and customize the piano sound is quite remarkable. The bottom line is after all my years at Kurzweil and Yamaha, this is hands down one of the most remarkable instruments I've ever had the pleasure of being involved with. Sonically, I don't think there is anything quite like it. I have no problem at all with your skepticism, that will just make us all work harder to prove you wrong.
  6. By no means does this begin to tell the whole or even part of the story, but here is a taste of what we'll be showing tomorrow at the NAMM show.
  7. Here is something that we taped a few months ago that you may not have seen. We'll do more of these. http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/23110779
  8. New sounds and videos won't be stopping, although admittedly it has slowed. We have some plans to change this.
  9. Happyrat, I'll look into this when I can but to be clear, we can not trouble shoot or support anything under Linux.
  10. I'm not sure if I totally understand your question, but I'll try. 1. These knobs can be assigned to a number of different Continuous Controller messages. These can either control internal tones or external MIDI devices. 2. NRPN & RPN are for sending a message to a specific product. If XW is your only keyboard then this is not something you would use. 3. XW can only use some CC messages, like filter Cutoff or Envelope control. Other CC messages are for other equipment.
  11. Is there an error message? Does it crash or simply not connect? Do you have a Logitech webcam?
  12. Take the mixer off of the XW display, just leave the graphic section and that's how big the display is on this new product.
  13. As for the editing on this new product it can all be done on the unit itself. All the programming I'm doing for NAMM is done on the unit itself.
  14. Happyrat - what problems are you having with the XW editor?
  15. I obviously can't be too specific right now. I'll say this.... In terms of editing sounds and control it is above and beyond anything we've done before. I'll also clarify that it is 88 keys. Last I wanted to let you know that unlike XW which we launched last year at NAMM, this product has come to us on a different schedule. We won't have a big introduction video that does a tour of the product completed until after the show. We will do our best to get as much video shot during NAMM and then work on other videos after.
  16. Our warranty policy is on our website here: http://www.casio-usa.com/support/warranties/musdvcwarr.htm I don't see anything about warranty transfers. You may want to call customer support to double check: 1-800-435-7732
  17. No the "Key Play" feature of the Phrase sequencer does not take scale or key into consideration. It simply shifts the phrase up or down by the number of steps. As Ed suggests the Arpeggiator might be a solution.
  18. In Performance Mode press EDIT. Scroll down to MIDI EDIT. In this section you choose the MIDI settings for each zone including the bank/program changes.
  19. Carl, You can use the mic with the solo synth on. The mic input is the becomes the 5th oscillator. That oscillator needs to be turned on and will pass audio when a key is pressed.
  20. Carl, It is definitely possible to map out drum kits with user samples. I'm not in front of a XW-G1 at the moment but the process is something like this: Start with a preset drum kit such as P400 (Standard Kit), press EDIT. The first selection is Instrument Edit, select that by pressing ENTER Next, play the keyboard you'll see the number numbers flash on the top of the screen. Once you've chosen the key you want to change, press ENTER again and it takes you to the next screen where you can choose your sample.
  21. Carl, Do you have the latest firmware? Tempo and effects should be stored as part of your Performance.
