  1. KryoShift, I guess I'd ask, what where you looking for in a keyboard before purchasing the XW-P1? In regards to your first comment about zero crossings and the attack, I've personally never noticed anything nor have I have seen single complaint about it either before this. While I had nothing to do with the samples in the XW series, it was my work in sampling and sound design for instruments that got me into this business many...many years ago. Of course I'd love if the XW had larger ROM and no, not all the samples are perfect and some are stretched quite a bit too. What most people find especially when you start combining things in Hex Layers, Performances or Sequences is all the sounds just work so well together. Hex Layers in particular are on of the most amazing aspects of the instrument, especially the ability to blend those layers on the fly much like a Vector based Synthesizer to create some truly evocative sounds. For the PCM sounds Knob3 is always assigned to attack when you're in a Tone mode but that can be changed when you build Performances. The samples in the XW-P1 can not be changed. The XW-G1 allows you to add your own samples. The architecture of the G1 makes this feature best for drum sounds (or loops), not multisampled instruments.
  2. This is great, I'll forward to the R&D team in Tokyo in case they are not aware of this. Thanks!
  3. I would recommend saving your user sounds on a regular basis and definitely before a software update. That being said, I THINK the user memory is unaffected by the update. Yes, just a USB cable.
  4. The solo synth is a bit different on the G1. On the P1 the sliders give you volume control over each oscillator used in the solo synth plus some effects control. It is much like a vector synth in that you can blend those oscillators on the fly. The G1 goes deeper. On the XW-G1 you can use the sliders to control nearly every parameter in the solo synth without going into edit mode. So it is much more tweakable in real-time.
  5. Neil, Do you have the software update installed in your XW-G1?
  6. In the Peformance mode of both instruments you'll find a CONTROLLERS section, this allows you to freely assign the knobs to any MIDI CC that you want. If you're not in Performance mode it is possible that the knobs are sending a message that is specific to the XW's sounds.
  7. The firmware updater application has been updated since that intial problem back in May. This is the first problem I've heard of since back then. Sorry but your XW will have to be replaced. You can send me a Private Message here and I can try to facilitate something directly through Casio or you can contact your dealer. -Mike Martin Casio America, Inc.
  8. Make sure your sequence is saved within part of a Performance. In the MIDI section of the Performance you can find the MIDI output assignments for each parts, this doesn't just include the 4 zones that can be played from the keyboard. Here you can choose any of your sequence tracks to be transmitted out the MIDI or USB outputs. Sorry I don't have access to a XW at the moment to give you a more detailed response.
  9. Tnicosin, I didn't make this forum, neither did Casio. Our friend and Casio enthusiast Chaos did. We are really happy to have a central location where people can discuss our products ask and find answers to questions.
  10. Store the settings you like as registrations. It will store accompaniment (fingering) settings, tone settings, tempo and more.
  11. There is an AUDIO tab on the left side of the Data Editor. This is where you take files that are on your computer and convert them to play back on the XW-P1 / G1. The Editor has a manual that comes with it. It is a separate download. http://support.casio...id=008&pid=1162 On page 24 of this manual it explains that the .wav file has to be converted and this the Data Editor will handle the conversion. On the following pages it explains the steps but you simply drag a file from the left side to the right side and it will be converted and copied to your SD card. You have to put the .wav files that you want to convert in your Documents/CASIO/EMI/DataeditorP1/WaveData folder for them to appear here.
  12. The files have to be converted using the computer editor. Unfortunately the XW series requires a sample rate of 42kHz not 44.1kHz
  13. Pitrak, First make sure you have the firmware update in your XW-G1. To check your firmware version On your XW-G1 instrument, press the [POWER] button to turn on the instrument. Press the "SETTING" button to display the setting screen. If you can not find "INFO" under "MIDI" in the list, the firmware version of the instrument is less than 1.10. You need to download this update software and install it on the instrument. If you can find "INFO" and press [ENTER] to display the version confirmation screen, the firmware version of the instrument is the number which is displayed. You can find the update here: http://support.casio.com/download.php?cid=008&pid=340&rgn=1 Next, don't forget that when you change the sync mode on the XW series you have to restart it. I haven't used the XW-G1 with a Kaoss Pad 3 but with other product I've had it sync without issue.
  14. Hey guys, welcome to the forum! This should be great and will allow us all to learn more about our great instruments. I've been using the XW's longer than anyone (aside from the R&D group at Casio Tokyo) and I still discover new things all the time. The depth of the XW's are pretty amazing. I'm working on a new video demo using both the XW-P1 and XW-G1 at the same time. I hope to have it done the first week of December. See you soon, -Mike
  15. The samples are very similar. The WK series has the flexibility of changing insert effects and saving user tones. This can't be done on a PX-330.
  16. Hey BossandBob, This should go in the WK section, not the XW-series. I'll move it. You can create your own Intro Pattern using the Pattern sequencer. That pattern can be just chords. Even easier, you can simply remove the drum part using the rhythm editor.
