  1. And what should WE do? WE - who updated the Firmware and got nice bricked device? I'm not alone here - at least 3 owners have the same issue. Silent Casio is not a good solution. They want to have great sales and market share with new P1&G1 products, that's fine, I understand theit business goals and aiming. From another side, potential buyers should know how Casio treats customers if firmware suddenly kills their toys :)

  2. Maybe it worth to change

    "Windows Users:
Check to make sure "XW-P1-Updater.exe" are present in the folder

    to

    Windows Users:
Check to make sure "XW-P1-Updater.exe" and two bin-files are present in the folder.

  3. Well. here's the reply from Casio-parts:

The main board is a part number 91087181259. Your cost is $117.50 plus S&H.

We will need to order the part(s) from Casio. It usually takes 2 to 3 weeks for us to receive parts from Casio.

I'm not in hurry to order this MainBoard, maybe Santa-serviceman can help, who knows :)

  4. I was doing all steps according to this manual. And had all mentioned till step 7. PC program quit, Keyboard rebooted and... clear screen.

Our Ukrainian Casio service told me nice facts: I'm not alone with XW-P1 and "bricked after updating" (they have 3 or more visitors with the same issue). And the only thing they can offer is to replace MainBoard (costs more than half of Keyboard price).

Now I'm looking for a new MainBoard in USA or other Casio services :(

  5. There's nothing to replace easily. Here's main board (I think) because it has chip and 3 memory chips (I think it's a static RAM chip and 2 dynamic RAM chips). All soldered and the only thing smart user can do is to replace (by soldering) the whole board. But it's the worst case. I'll call local Casio service tomorrow to investigate what they can do and what money I've lost because of nice and save flashing process :)

  6. Jokeyman123, I had absolutely the same yesterday. WinXP on my Note, some kind of "mailware virus" (as it was investigated today) and now my XW is dead. Clear LCD, power on + write&edit does nothing :( And I don't have warranty as well. Cool things.

After switching power on and in 1 minute later (see pics).
