  1. Casio did a great job with the Px5s. I have also a wish list, however I'm very happy with my purchase. A stage piano cannot and shouldn't provide all the features of a workstation. This year I bought also a korg arranger because I wanted arrangements to play with my px5s. Althought korg keyboards have nice sounds, the support provided is really bad. The korg forum is useless and no update have been released for my arranger in the last three year !!! When I come back from work, I really want to read the posts in this forum. I'm overwhelmed by the amount of support provided. Mike Martin, Scott, Bradz and really all the community in this forum are providing superb support for px5s users. All the people in this forum share a great passion for this lovely keyboard. I'am not a professional musician but a signal processing engineer and I can tell to all the people that are complaining that the px5s is a nice piece of electronics. It is only the beginning, Casio will do better in the next product !! I wanted also to thank you Casio to make cheaper keyboards because of Casio I was able to play music when I was student. Please do not complain about the px5s but help us to make a better keyboard.
  2. Thank you all. I completely forgot about the midi implementation chart! The midi chart seems pretty exaustive and not very difficult to interpret. I would like to create an application for my ipad that lists automatically all stage settings and the user can select one for playing. The app would also keep track (database) of stage settings that have changed name. I will share the results if I find the time to develop the application. Thanks again.
  3. Hi all, Is it possible to send a sysex message to the Px5s with a parameter value indicating the stage setting number and receive as response another sysex msg that contains the name (encoded in ASCII code or other format) of the related stage setting ? Has anybody attempted to accoplish this ? Thank you.
  4. Hi Norm, You could use a beagle-bone black ($45) to control the volume px-5s. It is a embedded processor that can accept input from sensors, small circuits and in your case could be easily interfaced to the a continuos pedal. With few line of code (Linux) you could send the right message to control the volume, however you could achieve much more than that. I already tested under Linux the USB connection of the px5s. I'm able to send any msg and also able to sniff any msg that the keyboard transmits in midi raw format. Arduino based solution are also available in the web and well documented but it may require more work. Just google Arduino midi pedal. Good luck !!
  5. Hi Massimo, I have a Roland DP-10 pedal plugged into my Px-5s. It only works as simple sustain pedal (on/off). When the Px-5s boots, It automatically detects the polarity of the pedal.
  6. Hi Mau Van, I also added a Korg keyboard to play styles with the PX5. I'm using a Korg microarranger which has the same sounds of PA50SD or PA80. It has only 32MB of rom samples but guitars, strings, sax, accordion are amazing. The analog drums are also impressive. However I like better the piano of the PX5. I can fully control the arrangement chords with my PX5 keyboard (by midi cable). I really like this setup. I agree with you that CASIO should improve some of the "classic" sounds (guitars and string). Overall, I'm very happy with the PX5 because of the EQ, piano sounds, keyboard action however I definitely see room for improvement.
  7. Hi Kristian, very nice stage setting, it is the right one, now !!! Thank you so much for sharing. P.S.. I saw your performance on you tube. I like your music !!
  8. Hi Kristian, I liked your performance very much !! I downloaded the stage setting that you created twice and uploaded to my keyboard, however the sound I'm having is a piano (GrPianoNarrow1 - modified). Z3,Z4 are off and Z2 (Warm Pad - modified) can be turned on/off with the second pedal. Could you please check out if you uploaded the correct stage setting and could upload it again ? I really like the demo sounds that are on soundcloud. Thank you.
  9. Hello, there is a way to copy the settings (all the content) of one zone (e.g. Z1) to another zone (e.g. Z2) ? I used the PC data editor several times but I cannot find a straightforward procedure to accomplish this task. Thank you in advance.
  10. For all of you that were not able to change the PX-5S drum set in Cubase, here is the modified patch script. The bank select (MSB) parameter for drums has been changed from 70 to 125 as specified in the midi chart provided by Casio (user's guide). Tested on Cubase version 5.1. Casio PX-5S_2.txt
